I am now having my 4 th bout of Covid - acute cold like symptoms and extreme tiredness, hopefully will resolve quickly. Looks like we will see highest U.K. levels for a year but likely milder.

Interesting data showing that in this cohort study 40% of people in their 40's are suffering #chronicpain. Those suffering are likely to still be affected into their 50's and 60's highlighting the lack of effective treatments. linkedin.com/posts/activity…

Time for more female focused pain research!

Great to see this from @CCriadoPerez. Pain affects women more than men but research is mainly completed in males. Some conditions affect only women (endometriosis) & others are more prevalent in women (fibromyalgia). Research shows there are sex differences in pain mechanisms.

@KhannaLabNYU Well that is indeed terrible. As someone who helped develop gabapentinoids for pain >25 years ago, I am proud that have many pain sufferers. HOWEVER it is well documented that they are only effective in approx 1 in 8 patients. NEW TREATMENTS ARE DESPERATELY NEEDED!!!

#Gabapentin was approved nearly 30 years ago& has become one of the most prescribed analgesics today, being widely used in 'off-label' pain conditions. Developing safe, non-abuse potential new analgesics is a high priority for society. jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…
