Platner strikes me as someone who hasn’t thought deeply about politics. It’s implausible that he’s a “Nazi.” I do think his voting behavior in office is unpredictable. As I told @Tyler_A_Harper a few weeks ago, that’s the left’s problem, not mine — he might break my way.

She didn't really want to run. She was seen as the best option after all the other potential nominees chose to run for governor instead. But I think Platner filled a void, and no one saw him coming. Like, if they had known he existed 2 years ago, they never would've bothered recruiting Mills. I still think he struggles in November, but the vibe in Maine is so bad for Republicans right now that he'll probably still win, though he'll probably underperform Kamala by a few points.

@prem_thakker I'm not entirely sure how much the idea that forcing Israel to get bombed is going to do a bit towards peace, considering how Israeli bombs haven't seemed to make Palestinians move an inch and how 9/11 made Americans start baying for the blood of those who did it.

AIPAC had planned to back a candidate named Jason Friedman in an Illinois House race but in a move that can only be called flagrantly antisemitic, they have rejected him as "too obviously aligned." So they are throwing their money behind a Black woman who doesn't have a history of commenting on Israel, thinking they can fool voters that way. In other words, they rejected the Jewish candidate specifically because he is Jewish. That is gross and shameful. For years, the left has urged the DNC to ban Super PACs like AIPAC from distorting primaries but the party refuses. This stuff is so obviously toxic, yet it's allowed to go on.

AIPAC was initially looking at a different candidate in IL07, Jason Friedman. He was seen as "too obviously aligned." Conyears Ervin has less defined views for the electorate. The UDP spots are all positive bio spots.
