The Supreme Court launched its federalist revolution by striking down the Gun-Free School Zones Act, then the Violence Against Women Act. Now guns plague our schools, and violent men plague our politics. This is what happens when government places ideological purity above people.

@BillKristol Williamson is a good writer, but no better than lots of others who didn’t claw their way to fame as shock and insult mongers. It’s hard to feel sorry for him.

Of conservative writers, Kevin Williamson is one of those most willing to be heterodox, most committed to reality-based reporting, with a bold intellect and indomitable character. But the philistine progressive mob can’t stand him. Why? Because he won’t bend the knee...to them.

"Political aides then scrambled, contacting the ethics lawyers and pushing them to make a hasty ruling despite not knowing some details of the arrangement, according to people familiar with the agency’s response who spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk frankly."

Having career ethics officials approve your self-dealing doesn't mean much if you don't tell them the whole truth.

Pruitt has (1) extracted undeserved personal benefits at taxpayer expense, and (2) accepted favors from people he regulates. This is corruption, plain and simple. Corruption is a weed. If we don't cut it out, it will grow.

@BillKristol It came up a few weeks ago when Pruitt was before Congress. Didn't seem to make a difference.

I wonder if, when this is called to Trump's attention, Pruitt will be gone. “I believe that Donald Trump in the White House will be more abusive to the constitution than Barack Obama and that’s saying a lot.” documentedinvestigations.org/2018/01/30/sco…

@davidfrum Highly trained doctors who fly long haul flights across the world on NIH-funded research trips have to fly coach. I don’t see why a public servant should be any different.

Personally I find it adorable that Pruitt was scheming to sell out our environment to energy lobbyists while wearing pajamas and brushing his teeth.

Scott Pruitt has barred science from the EPA and repeatedly ignored the Administrative Procedures Act. But what might bring him down is sleeping in the wrong townhouse. We live in a strange world.

“He hides his schedule from the public. His own employees need an escort to see him and aren’t allowed to take notes at meetings.” And keeps “an unprecedented round-the-clock security detail” on “trips to Disneyland and the Rose Bowl” Dude is weird.
