@jtrebach Having watched as much of this show as I have, I could tell even before he started that that was cake.

@jasonryanmd The USMLE is a gate-keeping measure of test-taking skills. Clinical rotations are infinitely better-suited for evaluating understanding and reasoning. The problem is the system’s real (though flawed) need for standardization. But don’t pretend the USMLE is what it isn’t.

One of the most common reasons students underperform on the USMLE is too much memorization and not enough real understanding. It sounds obvious but I’ve seen it over and over, even in students who know better. Mnemonics and Anki are great for recall, but they’re not enough. The USMLE tests your ability to apply concepts in unfamiliar ways. You’ll definitely encounter scenarios that didn’t appear in NBME exams, UWorld, or any other Qbank. These questions require reasoning. They’re nearly impossible to answer if all you’ve done is memorize. Remember: Memory tricks help you recall. Real understanding helps you think.

Made it to the University of Oxford. It’s pretty old, like at least 100 years probably.

@RodDMartin Disagree. We see this in medicine a lot. It’s like when the in-town family who has seen grandma’s progression thinks she’s not that different than normal, but then the out of town family who hasn’t seen her in a year comes in for Christmas and is like WHAT HAPPENED TO GRANDMA?!

Thing we know: 1. The insiders knew Biden was like this. 2. They didn’t have to agree to any debate at all. They certainly didn’t have to propose and show up for the earliest debate in history. 3. So they humiliated Biden deliberately, but only after the primary voters get no say, yet early enough pre-Convention for the insiders to pick his successor before the fall campaign. This has been the plan for a long, long time.

“Wow. Thank you so much! Do you need my t-shirt size, or is this more of a pizza scenario?” -Me, on vacation, intentionally and enthusiastically misunderstanding a call from medical records about an “outstanding chart” from three days ago

Not a word condemning Islamic Jihad for causing the hospital explosion in Gaza and killing hundreds of Palestinian civilians. Not a word from the UN. Not a word from Israel’s usual critics, who rushed to judgement with a blood libel. Not a word from Hamas (no surprises). The sudden silence is deafening. If you think the death of Palestinians is cause for outrage only when Israel is the accused, then you are not pro-Palestinian. You are simply anti-Israel. There is a difference.

The Israeli government put their own citizens knowingly at risk by terrorizing an entire group of people. Hamas ran completely out of options other than to launch a war. Civilians are ALWAYS the #1 casualty of war. Remember the 500,000 children killed by the Iraq war that was just shrugged off? War is horrible- time to get to a peace agreement.

This is the final crack in my broken heart - a joint statement from @Harvard students. I could be sitting in class with these students, watching children brutally murdered, raped, kidnapped and their mutated bodies torn apart by a jeering crowd - and hear why it’s justified.

SICK, SICK, SICK: “Aides said [Donald Trump] talked about Ivanka Trump's breasts, her backside, and what it might be like to have sex with her, remarks that once led (former Chief of Staff) John Kelly to remind the president that Ivanka was his daughter," former Trump official Miles Taylor writes in a new book. 🤮
