📢'The World Is Your Oyster' is for those who are born in global north countries--don't experience visa bureaucracy & emotional burden that non-white global south scholars do. Citizenship is a privilege that we need to recognize in the academe. 1/n nature.com/articles/d4158…

I am extemy glad to share a successful completion of my doctoral degree in natural sciences. 👩🏻‍🎓 😊 This has been quite a journey for me and wouldn’t have been possible with an incredible support of my family, friends, colleagues and a very encouraging supervisor. 😊

World, we give you Dr Höfs! So proud of our @WindieHoefs, who successfully defended her thesis yesterday 🎉🎉🎉 Windie did beautiful work with ours and the @G_Charras lab, uncovering the roles of cell-cell and cell-ECM interactions in YAP mechanical regulation 👩🏾‍🎓

New paper from the lab! We developed an optogenetic tool, OptoShroom3, to induce apical constriction in illuminated cells(left). By controlling cell shapes, OptoShroom3 can induce tissue shape changes, including lumen shrinkage of neural organoids(right). doi.org/10.1038/s41467…

I have been waiting for my #ATAS certificate which should arrive in 20-30 days for more than 3 months now! I was supposed to join as a postdoc at @EdinburghUni on Aug 1. There is no response to follow up emails. Can we get atleast a status update @FCDOGovUK ? @research_uk @GOVUK

@kapildeb @trussliz Please help! A lot of us students from India, Pakistan and other Asian countries are waiting desperately for our ATAS CERTIFICATE. On an average people are waiting for more than 9 weeks now. This delay is jeopardizing our future and mental health. @FCDOGovUK @10DowningStreet

@FCDOGovUK I'm still waiting for ATAS after 3 months and have not heard back at all. I am one of many students facing this huge delay. The least you can do is give us a real timeline since it's obviously past 30 working days written on your website. Absolutely frustrating

New paper from the lab! We developed a novel human organoid that periodically forms somite-like structures. The spheroid of human iPS cells elongates and starts forming pairs of somites according to the segmentation clock. nature.com/articles/s4146… 1/

Delighted to say that it's my first time contributing to a publication. We demonstrated that the interaction of APCs and T cells occurs in a specific area in lamina propria of the intestinal mucosa of medaka. Grateful to have learned from @FeijooCarmen doi.org/10.3389/fimmu.…

Just stopped myself from getting involved in an argument with some people I overheard on the tube saying "Cell membranes, Biomolecules and Nucleotides- gross!" They were a group of teenagers so I let them go :p
