@PaperGooner @SXR123 The inability of Marvel Studios to just pick a successful story line run from the comics and adapt it as a movie is just baffling.

The Blade joke in Deadpool 3 is hilarious because it works both ways. "There's only been one Blade. There's only ever gonna be one Blade." - Blade (Deadpool & Wolverine) Deadpool looks at the camera when he says this because the joke is they announced the new blade movie in 2019 and it was supposed to come out some time after DP3. So Deadpool silently looks at the camera in a "ha ha, he doesn't know." kind of way. But since the solo movie is never coming out, now it's funny because you can see it as Deadpool looking at the audience going "ha ha, he's right. The new one got cancelled." Whether or not this was intended, I still find it hilarious.

Marvel announced Mahershala Ali as Blade at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019. Two directors fired. Four complete script overhauls. A version set in the 1920s that was scrapped — its costumes later sold to Ryan Coogler's Sinners. Mia Goth cast as the villain, then confirming the project "unraveled." Kevin Feige admitting four versions were developed and abandoned. Industry insider Jeff Sneider: "Blade is dead. He will not be introduced in a solo movie." Ali will reportedly appear in a Midnight Sons ensemble instead — nearly a decade after the original announcement. Is Blade's development the single biggest disaster in MCU history, or does something else take that title?

Robbie Williams is one most fascinating characters in music for me. More UK #1s than The Beatles. Made a biopic about his life where he is portrayed as a CGI monkey. Made a music video for a *#1 pop single* that featured him peeling off his skin. Completely unknown in the US.

@numetal_moment @15_Beak You’re probably right. I’d like to think he might have endeared himself to the public if he did the late night circuit though.

@ManaByte @Chattellly After the MJ estate sued Disney and won. Disney years later removed The Simpsons episode that had MJ on as a uncredited guest voice. So Disney has a grudge/beef with the MJ estate and I don't see them joining forces again even though it be big financial success for Disney

I would love to see Captain EO posted on Disney+, but the reality is that Disney can't just toss the movie up on the service. It's actually a lot more complicated than that. Disney owns the film, but the Michael Jackson Estate controls the man. It is a classic "legal stalemate" situation. While Disney produced the short and technically holds the copyright to the footage, any commercial release outside of a theme park theater triggers a mountain of licensing issues that didn't exist in 1986. The Footage: Disney owns the actual film and the physical elements. The Music: The Michael Jackson Estate (and Sony Music) owns the rights to the two main songs, "We Are Here to Change the World" and "Another Part of Me." Without these, the movie is basically 17 minutes of silent moonwalking. Likeness Rights: The Estate controls Michael’s name and image for commercial use. A Disney+ release would be considered a "new" commercial distribution, requiring a fresh payout to the Estate. Lucasfilm & Coppola: While George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola likely have smaller "backend" stakes or credit requirements, their involvement is less of a hurdle compared to the music and likeness rights. If Disney wanted to drop Captain EO on streaming tomorrow, they would run into two major roadblocks: 1. The "Commercial Release" Clause When the deal was signed in the 80s, it was specifically for a "Theme Park Attraction." The contracts were never written to cover home video, DVD, or streaming. To put it on Disney+, Disney would have to renegotiate the deal from scratch with the Jackson Estate, which is notoriously protective and expensive. 2. Music Licensing Costs Music licensing for streaming is vastly different from licensing for a physical location. Disney would have to pay a significant royalty for every "play" or a massive upfront buyout for the sync rights. Given that Captain EO is essentially a high-budget music video, the music is the most valuable part of the asset. The only time Captain EO was ever officially shown outside of a theme park was a one-time airing on MTV in 1996. Since then, it has never been officially released on VHS, LaserDisc, DVD, or Blu-ray. This MTV showing is likely where the "4K" versions on YouTube are from.

@numetal_moment @15_Beak They really didn’t though 😄 The Ego Has Landed was so under promoted. Had it received a fraction of the marketing its UK counterpoint got, his career might have had a different trajectory.
