Welcome back to another bonus point + DEFCON round up after last night’s OPTA update:
👉🏻Gabriel failed to hit DEFCON
👉🏻Declan Rice has kept his DEFCON
It was a tight race for 2 bonus but Bukayo Saka gained two important passes in the update.
This took him precisely to the 30 pass threshold at 80%+ accuracy (+4bps), steering him well clear of Trossard in the end.
Trossard actually had one of the best bps showings all season for just 1 assist!
He created 2 big chances (+6bps), hit the 90% pass threshold (+6bps), completed 6 successful dribbles (+6bps) and had 2 shots on target (+4bps) amongst a few other things - with only 2 minimal negative bps actions.
👉🏻We did however have no bonus changes in the Arsenal game.
A couple of important DC changes occurred in the Brighton game:
👉🏻Van Hecke hit DEFCON
👉🏻Thiaw lost his DEFCON
👉🏻Bruno Guimaraes gained 1 DC in the update and unluckily finished 1 away from DEFCON.
👉🏻Despite all this, no bonus point changes occurred.
Jack Hinshelwood actually missed 2 big chances in the game (-6bps). These misses proved quite costly, he would have taken home all 3 bonus if not!
👉🏻No bonus point changes occurred in the Sunderland game, despite some close standings!
Nordi Mukiele was simply two passes (successful or not) away from claiming all three bonus points. This would have seen him hit the 80% pass threshold (+4bps) and overtake Xhaka.
Now the Brentford game updated in time for FPL so let’s quickly run through any changes:
👉🏻Dango Ouattara failed to hit DEFCON, in fact he lost 1 DC down to 9.
Kelleher actually had one of his “saves inside the box” reclassified into a “save outside the box” (-1bps), effectively ending his minimal chances of a bonus increase.
Incidentally, if Lewis-Potter simply made two fewer passes then he would be below the pass threshold (-2bps) and Kelleher would have joined him on 2 bonus.
Igor Thiago ranked so low in the bonus due to the new penalty goal bps (12bps) implemented this season. If he scored this penalty last season then he’d have +12bps more and claim 1 bonus point.
👉🏻Ultimately, no bonus point changes occurred.
Not a lot of changes this time! But we do have a busy Sunday and Monday schedule so I’ll be back with another bonus point roundup after Sunday’s update!
See you all then!

Watkins currently in the free hit.
However, I can’t help but feel he’s a streaky player and we’ve just missed the haul.
Any Villa fans or others have an opinion?
Weirdly no mention of either Cunha or Mbeumo in the Manchester United press conference... #FPL
Presume it means they are fine but a difficult decision on Free Hit especially on Cunha.

@BrettBP1 And getting rewarded 4 points (more than anyone in the entire game on BB33) for picking Enzo is very much ‘lucky’. It might not seem much but I’m sure if you offered me 4 more points over JP I would take them.
Here’s a mini bonus point + DEFCON roundup after last night’s OPTA update:
👉🏻Van Hecke will lose his bonus point.
Van Hecke lost a valuable recovery point (-1bps).
In fact, Boscgali will also lose 1 bonus. He actually gained a foul won (+1bps) but crucially lost a successful tackle (-2bps) = 1bps loss.
This means just Danny Welbeck is the only player leaving the game with 1 bonus point.
Why does he get bonus for playing just 10 minutes?
Scoring a goal for a striker is the highest possible bps award (+24bps). Add that to his subsequent shot on target (+2bps) and playing time under 60 mins (+3bps) = 29bps!
The bps system heavily favours midfielders and defenders. Strikers need that large bump when scoring as they have fewer avenues to gain bps. In fact, they often lose a lot of bps for chances missed but he didn’t play enough time to lose any.
👉🏻Mitoma and Caicedo both fail to hit DEFCON too sadly.
Sorry to be a bearer of bad news to Van Hecke owners, turns out a simple recovery was a deciding factor.
Tonight the OPTA changes will come too late to affect FPL so this is the last meaningful update until the weekend when we go again!
Thank you all for reading as always!

@BigManBakar Losing 2 fixtures, out of 7 (assuming most have Bruno, and some also had Gabriel) is more than a tiny blip. EXTREME luck for FH33, so much bench jam.
Congratulations to all on Bench Boost.
Brighton clean sheet and another Groß return was a massive swing in favour of BB.
Most non-BB teams only had one Brighton at best.
No João Pedro was a tiny blip, but apart from that… huge success 🔥
36 points on bench boost is fantastic.
Shame Joao Pedro didn’t play so it’s only technically 26 but still good.
That gives me 20+ the 6 I lost in GW32.
