@Latterdaytruth The LDS church. Especially now compared to when it first started.

@MattTestifies The Eucharist is not the gospel of Jesus Christ?

@JS_StrngstSldr Where is your religion after the apostles death and before Joseph?
English

@PapiDavito Our religion goes back to Adam. Only your monks keep this tradition. In our church, every worthy member can partake.

Fr. Josiah Trenham has over 1300 active Parishoners in his Parish in a Church he built from the ground up. He recieves hundreds of people into the Church from His Parish every year. He is doing the work of God in California. The results speak for themselves, and the fact that people like Ethan insult him and his work further proves how righteous his work is.

Josiah Trenham is clearly trying to use Orthodoxy as a means of promoting his reactionary politics. I don’t understand how some can’t see this. It’s very concerning, and it is unbecoming of his priesthood and an insult to our Church and faith.

@ContraHeresy I don't understand how mormons look to him to defend their faith.

@Jamo_12 @ThoughtfulSaint Everything that God created was good. The tree was not poison. He has presuppositions that make him have the wrong understanding.

Yep.
I think it was President Benson that said this back in the 80s.
A most sobering thought.

Hot take… The prophets since Joseph Smith have not seemed as revelatory and groundbreaking as him partly because the church is under condemnation. If we ask not, we receive not.

Good pushback, and you’re right that I shouldn’t let point 4 imply canonization is the test of prophetic authority: most ANE prophecy was oral pastoral guidance - look no further than the OT for evidence - that never entered any canon.
But, you seem to be missing that the argument doesn’t actually rest on canonization. It rests on commissioning mechanism and structural position.
An example to illustrate:
Nathan’s rebuke of David isn’t canonized as Torah; it’s pastoral correction. But Nathan is still (a) theophanically commissioned as an individual, (b) speaking in the divine first person, and (c) structurally outside the governing institution he’s correcting.
“Guidance and oversight of his Church and people” is exactly the function I’d expect a magisterium to perform: a standing administrative council exercising pastoral authority by virtue of office. That’s a coherent ecclesiology.
It’s just not the ANE prophetic one that LDS fancies itself as modeling on, whether or not the output gets canonized.

@Sola_GPT A great reminder that AI is crap and that we should all be capable of learning, researching, and thinking for ourselves.

@PapiDavito @ThoughtfulSaint “If you eat it, you shall surely die.” I agree is it an unorthodox way of putting it, but is it effectively wrong?
