⚠️With 1 day to go, Polkadot Staking Dashboard is failing its funding round on OpenGov. Should it fail, this would highlight a huge failing of the OpenGov system, and further highlight its problems of low voter turnout and certain large token holders voting on their own agendas. Polkadot Staking Dashboard is a critical piece of application-side infrastructure. It is not simply another one-click staking solution, but a fully featured interface that exposes the entire Polkadot staking system, nomination pools and validators. @saxemberg @CryptoCappex I can't say that I agree with your rationale nor am I on the inside of upcoming changes to even comment that it it is "radical". Seeking to discredit the group because they followed policy and you are unhappy with the policy is imo just vacuous.

@ParaNodes @CryptoCappex Plain and simple, it's clear that by many feel that the bounty needs changes due to experience. You seemingly know what radical changes need to be made. Other members' answers are proof that changes are needed. It's not just a matter of small rulebook edits on hackmd.

Saxemberg has voted NAY on the Polkadot referendum 1698. Moderation Team Bounty Top-up. A previously supported effort. The outside view is that given the low volume of activity of the proposed channels, reducing personnel is the way to go.

@saxemberg @CryptoCappex I would add, that I don't consider you a bad actor but your answer seems to acknowledge some action that's contradictory to the code-of-conduct.

@saxemberg @CryptoCappex If that's the case then the rule book should be updated and... there is presently efforts to do that right now. If you did something against the code-of-conduct, received a warning and persisted then I would NOT be surprised if you got a time-out.

@saxemberg @CryptoCappex I'm also confused by the accusation of censorship. Outside of spam control the team follows "code of conduct" set by the W3F and that's now handed over to a community team. An example of such is found here -> hackmd.io/ULADdNflR2Sk-6… and used by Element mods.

The team comprises of (now) nine individuals and the budgeted request is <170k USD for service of one year. This moderation team bounty is one of the ecosystem's longest active bounties. However, the team's voluntary contributions existed years prior.

With only five days left, the moderation team needs your support to close a < 1 million DOT vote gap. The team is responsible for moderating activities on Polkadot's official Discord, Element, Reddit and Telegram channels/servers.

I'm just a tech guy and this isn't financial advice. Aren't staking rewards treated as income in the US? Thus subjected to tax upon receipt. The concern would then be focused on liquidity at the time the rewards are received. The long term capital gains that you're referring to might be applicable to the initial investment that's being staked.

Because if you're not claiming the rewards then you're never starting the timer for your capital gains. In America you need to hold tokens for at least a year in order to pay 20% taxes instead of 40% taxes for capital gains. This would never work well because once you claim the tokens you would then have to wait a year to sell them in order to not get hit with the highest tax bracket on capital gains.

@guinnessstache This was actually a recommendation from an expert in the field. Could you explain your position? Perhaps our perspectives are not sync'd.

@ParaNodes That still doesn't work. Again, I think people need to really start to understand US tax law before they start trying to make changes like this seeing is how the biggest market that's going to push crypto forward is the US.

Without even reading this I can already tell you this would be a tax nightmare lol. So many people try making decisions in these ecosystems without understanding how the tax laws work in the US, which is one of the most important things to understand for a project to be successful.

Resubmission in mind, it is unlikely that we'll see balanced voting on the topic. For this referendum they've used 2x conviction but they may likely use 4 or 6x with resubmissions which is near the total votes of all participants.

Unfortunately it is a Nay for innovation. The referendum was knocked out of confirmation by a 47,500 KSM whale. Interestingly enough this whale account usually delegates to ChaosDAO. This is one of those "fly on the wall moments"; I would love to know what "really happened".
