Away on holiday and the hob is gas. The amount of waste heat this thing produces is ridiculous. We’ve be cooking on an induction hob for over half a decade. It’s clean, cheap to install and maintain, fast, emission free, and won’t blow the house up. Switch as soon as you can.

@Cerberusbite83 Pensioners have to pay tax Why shouldn’t they. Why do they get money totalling over the personal tax allowance and don’t get taxed on it when every other person has to be?

Anyone getting benefits totalling over £12.5k per year in value should have to pay tax. If the pensioners have to, and minimum wage workers have to then so should they. There shouldn’t be a two tier system between those who work or have worked and those who have not

In my Mansion House speech, I made clear: the Strait of Hormuz must be fully reopened, without restrictions or tolls. The blocking of this vital waterway is hitting trade around the world and prices here at home. Freedom of navigation means navigation must be free.

I couldn’t be more proud to be serving in Keir Starmer’s Government. This is exactly the leadership our country needs in uncertain times. 🇬🇧🇬🇧

@lukerobertblack Would it be the National Insurance Fund perhaps that it's paid from? The one that has it's own tax levied on salaries & paid by all taxpayers & employers & is a universal benefit that counts as taxable income? Honestly get a life. You're just stirring the hate pot here.

@StevePigott7 @HasAhmed_ Rental works for the rest of Europe? What a strange thing to say, especially when Countries such as Croatia & Hungary have over 90% home ownership rates.

@HasAhmed_ Why do you need to own ? Rental works for the rest of Europe everyone seems to want to rejoin that club, also the economic imbalance of home ownership was alone of the reasons why we left the EMU if you want closer alliances with Europe and the euro you know what to do ! Rent !

I’m glad more people on my TL are finally calling out boomer entitlement. The old “just cancel Netflix and save like we did” argument ignores the reality we face today. Housing costs have outpaced wages by multiples, student debt is at record highs, and real wage growth for young people has stagnated for decades. In the 1970s, the average home was ~3x annual income, now it’s often 8–10x+. Tuition for uni used to be free; now it leaves people in debt for decades. It’s no longer about lattes or subscriptions in an economic system that no longer offers the same baseline opportunities, yet the young today still gets judged by outdated standards.

@HasAhmed_ They say young people are frivolous with money. Half our wage goes to rent, which boomers love to increase. Most of the other half goes on taxes, to pay boomer benefits. What money we have left we save to try to afford a house more expensive from boomer NIMBYism.

25% of pensioners are millionaires. 55% of welfare spending goes on pensioners. Why don’t we: 1) means test the state pension, millionaires don’t need benefits. 2) increase the amount we give to the pensioners who need it the most. 3) stop the unsustainable triple lock.

Dear boomers, can you afford to buy the house you live in currently with the wage you used to earn before you retired? If you can’t, then that’s the whole housing problem in a nutshell. It really is that simple to understand.

From today, energy bills will come down. Labour took the decision to bring down bills by asking the wealthiest to pay a little more. That’s the fair thing to do. We know there’s more to do to tackle the cost of living but this is an important step.

I know everyone is different, but when Labour came to office I was paying £180 a month and now I'm paying around £135 a month for gas and electric. Around £500 less a yr.
