As parents who have lost their children to online harms, ParentsSOS members understand better than anyone how important it is to pass a strong version of KOSA with a duty of care. They have worked harder than anyone to make that happen, and they have no plans to stop now.

ParentsSOS members appreciate that Committee has made changes they requested to improve the KIDS Act, especially the KOSA & COPPA 2.0 sections. They applaud the new bipartisan, bicameral consensus that Congress’s online safety legislation should not preempt state law in any way.

To be clear, ParentsSOS members have not endorsed the KIDS Act. Instead, they look forward to seeing the bill advance so that they can work with House and Senate leaders to pass a strong version of KOSA this year with a duty of care.

Meanwhile members of @parents4sos have come out to *back* the KIDS Act package. Groups including @AmerAcadPeds and @afspnational wrote a letter (link in next tweet) calling it an “important step toward strong online safety protections for children.”
