🎬 #Dhurandhar: The Revenge Dhurandhar was about patience, letting tension simmer and silence speak. The sequel knows the groundwork is done. It doesn’t pause to rebuild, instead it charges ahead, turning into a high impact, emotionally charged, unapologetically massy spectacle. And for a while, that works. Aditya Dhar leans into scale and velocity, structuring the film as a series of payoffs rather than a slow unraveling. It moves with intent, rarely stopping to breathe. But in that rush, it leaves behind what made the first film resonate, the emotional weight beneath the espionage, and beneath Jaskirat Singh Rangi. Jaskirat, the spine of this story, feels underexplored. The trauma is visible, the scars are mentioned, but the transformation, the why, never fully lands. It plays out like checkpoints being ticked off rather than an arc being lived. Ironically, the film is at its best when it slows down, when it explores his roots, his people, his belonging. In those moments, you glimpse a far stronger film hidden within. Ranveer Singh carries the weight regardless. There’s rawness in his performance, vulnerability in stillness, rage in his eyes. You believe the man, even when the writing doesn’t fully support his journey. And that exposes the gap. In Dhurandhar, his character thrived on absence, the mystery was the character. Here, with the spotlight on him, the lack of depth becomes visible. Once you remove the shadows, you need substance. That’s where the film falters. To compensate, the film leans into spectacle, slow motion entries, stylized set pieces, applause driven moments. They work individually, but don’t always come together. The Lyari portions especially feel rushed, as if the film is covering ground instead of letting it breathe. Major Iqbal follows a similar pattern, presence without enough depth. He never quite feels like a worthy successor, nor does he convincingly fill the vacuum left by Rehman Dakait as a formidable antagonist. The ending works, but a little too conveniently. You can sense the film rushing toward closure. Dhurandhar 2 isn’t a mid film, it’s just not technically the magnum opus it had the potential to be. And that’s where the disappointment lies. You can clearly see the better film within, you just never fully get to experience it.

At my age, it’s rare to sit through a nearly four-hour film without checking my phone or taking a loo break—but I did neither (except during the interval!). There wasn’t a single boring moment in #DhurandharTheRevenge. If you’re squeamish about violence—like my wife is—then maybe skip it. Otherwise, just head to the theatre and soak in the experience. Dhar has delivered a magnum opus—again—one that will be hard to beat. The entire cast has outdone themselves: @RanveerOfficial Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Gaurav Gera, @ActorMadhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Danish Pandor, Manav Gohil, Ashwin Dhar, and the amazing @bolbedibol .
