The Pasadena Public Health Department (PPHD) urges parents and caregivers to stop using ByHeart Whole Nutrition infant formula immediately. ByHeart products have been recalled and Pasadena retailers have removed the products from commercial shelves in Pasadena, including formula cans and single-serve “anywhere pack” sticks.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the California Department of Public Health Infant Botulism Treatment and Prevention Program are investigating a multistate outbreak of infant botulism linked to ByHeart formula. As of November 19, 2025, 31 infant hospitalizations have been reported across 15 states, including California, with no deaths. No cases have been reported in Pasadena.
