So @Blue_Footy , i decided to run comprehensive comparison between both players and the data really sides with Yildiz I am particularly intrigued by the age difference in context to price. Of course Gordon has PL experience and numbers as his biggest trump card but Yildiz’s quality is soo strongly depicted in my discussion below. Yıldız is clearly having the stronger attacking season. He leads Gordon in goals, non-penalty goals, assists, total goal contributions, chances created, big chances created, shot accuracy, dribbling output, crossing accuracy, passing volume and overall SofaScore rating. His 16 G/A in 2576 minutes gives him 0.56 G/A per 90, compared to Gordon’s 0.40 G/A per 90. The most important difference is efficiency. Yıldız has scored 10 goals from 7.83 xG, meaning he is outperforming his expected goals by +2.17. Gordon, meanwhile, has 6 goals from 8.83 xG, underperforming by -2.83. That tells us Yıldız has been the cleaner finisher, while Gordon has left more goals on the table. Creatively, Yıldız is also ahead. He has 71 chances created compared to Gordon’s 26, plus 15 big chances created against Gordon’s 5. His xA of 9.08 also shows that he has been providing high-quality service, even if teammates have not converted everything. Gordon’s strongest arguments are defensive work, ball security and league context. He loses possession less often, has slightly better ground-duel success, more tackles, and is doing it in the Premier League, which adds context to his numbers. But strictly from the attached data, Yıldız is the more complete attacking profile this season: more productive, more creative, more progressive, more efficient and still only 20 years old.
