Over the past five years, Moscow has opened more than 40 new metro stations, many with strikingly futuristic and highly individual designs. Here are three of the standouts.

Kaja Kallas who - I kid you not - is supposed to be the EU's top diplomat, just described China as a "disease," specifically "cancer." 🤦‍♂️ Just as the entire rest of the world - including Trump's US - are deciding to re-engage with China, the EU prefers to insult them. Why would China be "cancer"? Because, in Kallas' own description, their companies are more competitive and this forces what she describes as a binary choice for the EU: "morphine" - subsidize EU companies - or "chemo", become more hostile to Chinese companies. Or maybe, just maybe, it's not binary, and if there's any cancer eating away at Europe's future, it's precisely Kallas' mindset - the reflex to call "disease" what is simply someone else doing a better job.
Finbarr Bermingham@fbermingham

I just got around to watching Kallas' full remarks - she went even further than "disease", describing China's economic policies as "a cancer" "If you have a very difficult disease, if you have a cancer, you have 2 choices. Either increase the morphine or you start chemotherapy"

Secular Talk (KyleKulinskiShow@bsky.social)
There it is. With Massie’s defeat, If you’re against pedophiles and child trafficking, if you oppose illegal wars of aggression or even MILDLY criticize Israel, there is no place for you in the Republican Party. That is now a fact. The fascist terrorist imperialist death cult is doing what it does. The cult is culting.

Russian media is noting that Putin appears to have received a higher-level airport reception in Beijing than Trump did last week. Putin was personally greeted by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a serving Politburo member, whereas Trump was met by Vice President Han Zheng, who no longer sits on either the Politburo or the Communist Party’s Central Committee. Some Chinese protocol analysts explain that sending a Politburo member to the airport signals that Beijing considers the visitor an especially important guest.

Putin has arrived in Beijing for a two-day state visit, just days after Trump’s China trip. He was greeted at the aircraft stairs by China’s foreign minister, a guard of honor, and children chanting welcome greetings in Chinese.

Former secretary of defence Donald Rumsfeld once said: ‘Hell, I don’t run my building (Pentagon), Mossad does!’ And now John Kiriakou: “Of course Mossad infiltrated al-Qaeda. Of course they knew the attack was coming. That’s why there were the dancing Israelis. That’s why 9/11 went forward.”

One point that I think worth repeating: Ireland - the 26 counties - was not able to industrialize due to British colonial policies including by preventing Irish exports such as woolen from going beyond England as well as one sided tariffs To blame 'Dev' for this is insulting 🇮🇪
Theo McDonald@tbald101

I don't think anyone should look to the 1950s as a golden age But at the same time to suggest Ireland was uniquely bad or backward is just self hatred of the kind imbued in postcolonial states 🇮🇪

A reminder: Erika Kirk on the death of Charlie: "Even if God gave him the option, I wouldn’t want to bring him back." Thomas Massie on the death of his wife: "I cry every day. I would do anything to see her again." Only one of these is a human reaction. The other is demonic.

🚨Palestine Action Éire target Acra Control in Dublin This time last year The Ditch reported that Acra Control sent parts from its Clonskeagh manufacturing plant to Israel Military Industries (now owned by Elbit Systems) in Ramat Hasharon. Owned by US-based Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions, Acra Control has previously supplied components used in US Predator drones deployed during deadly attacks in the Middle East. And late last year The Ditch reported that Acra Control shipped parts used to improve missile performance to Elbit Systems on 5 December. Early Monday morning Palestine Action Éire targeted Acra Control's Clonskeagh base, with footage showing actionists damaging air conditioning and ventilation equipment at the site. 'We have no hope in appealing to the morality of either the Irish government or these weapons manufacturers, as if they had any semblance of a moral conscience they would have already taken meaningful action against the genocidal states of Israel and the US. 'We tried peacefully protesting, we tried email and phone campaigns, we tried signing petitions and none of it worked. 'History teaches us in times like these escalations of tactics are necessary to ensure our voices are heard. The time for symbolic action is over,' said one.

When you look at the way Germans still talk about Russians, Sinti & Roma or black Africans, it’s impossible to conclude that they are acting overzealous over any type of guilt. You can call the Namibian survivors of a German genocide every slur in the book consequence free here.

Sandra Hüller on if she "feels the guilt" of Germany's past: "Yes, I feel the guilt every day. And also I never get bored of it, to feel the guilt because it's necessary to act right." variety.com/2026/film/fest…

If capitalism is so great, why do corporations need so many tax breaks, subsidies, exemptions, grants, legal protections, bailouts, and trade protections? When citizens need these things, why is it socialism?

@BrianMcDonaldIE Tbf not completely wrong. Independent in name only. Imagine China, after all their hard work in WW2 said “let’s have the same political and economic system as Japan, but we’ll elect a president every 7 years instead of having an emperor.” Madness. But we call it democracy lol

Not sure Irish people fully understand how many people around the world still think Ireland is part of the UK. There are highly educated people in Russia and China who genuinely believe Dublin is governed from London. A lot of people see an English-speaking island west of Britain and just assume “same country.”
