@zjlaing Has anyone credible actually mention Babcock? David Staples does not count.

@LeiperOttawa So it would make sense for Ottawa to have two 10,000 seat + arenas 3 km from each other when there is a new NHL arena at Lebreton?

@AzorcanGlobal Broberg wanted out for a while. His first trade request was while Woodcroft was coaching. Holloway is a tough player to lose but injuries are still a concern in his case.

@TSNRyanRishaug What are the chances the coaching staff already knew their days were numbered? The exit interview comments foreshadowed this.

If the Oilers plan all along was to let Knoblauch go, then their handling of this has been horrendous. If they wanted to explore Cassidy as an option, and if it didn’t work out retain Kris, then it was risky - if it got out, they’d be scuttling a coach they just re-signed and were considering keeping. The fact it got out made a return for Knoblauch impossible. Arguably the most important off season in 30 years for this franchise gets off to a rough start. Have to think Bowman and Jackson are very much on the clock as well. Fatigue and injuries only go so far in masking a body of work with some massive mistakes at critical junctures. Brett Kulak with a series winner last night puts an exclamation point on mishandled assets and mis-reads on players. Will be an interesting few months for the organization.

@mathewjdp Passive is accurate. He seems regularly to back right up to his goalie, leaving him in position to deflect pucks into the net. If he wasn't playing that way before he was this season.

To an extent. Nurse also tends to be passively defensive, struggles with providing quality or possession defense, and is unable to contribute effective offensive plays in the Ozone. Additionally, he is considered one of the least effective penalty killers in the league and frequently diminishes the performance of his linemates.
Woz@itsWozzz

Darnell Nurse isn't even that bad of a defenceman; he's just got an anchor of a contract. We're hard on him because we expect more out of him for how much he makes. He's a great skater, provides physicality, isn't afraid to eat pucks, and can chip in offensively.

As my buddy Sam Gliserman pointed out… Gavin McKenna going to Toronto could certainly help convince Connor McDavid to come home… 🤷‍♂️

@mathewjdp I am definitely intrigued by Leppanen if he gets a shot which seems likely unless Bowman is fired. Those pairs are worth a shot if Nurse gets moved (I think he will). Do you see Carfagna as having NHL potential as well?

I would have Emberson as 7th with Regula. Let them split. Injuries happen too. He's a great defensive Dman. So is Regula tho. Much less chaos with Leppanen than you'd think. Regula is consistent defensively, and with Leppanen whose very gifted offensively, Edm will have the puck far more often than not.

Here are my thoughts regarding potential roster changes for EDM: Players I would suggest re-signing include: • Dickinson • Murphy • Stastney • Kapanen • Ingram • Lazar • Jones • Dach • Michaels • Jarventie • Hamblin • Bloom • Ungar • Beryozkin I would consider letting go of the following players: Roslovic, Henrique, Petrov, Poulin, Dineen, Pickard. In terms of team needs for EDM, I believe the priorities are: #1 - Goaltending #2 - Top 6 forwards #3 - Coaching Players who may need to be moved are Nurse and Jarry. Is there anything I may have overlooked?

@mathewjdp You would let Emberson go? I thought he looked good on the pk when finally tried there. Not too much chaos with a pair of Regula and Leppanen?

My season notes • Edm ended the season using the right systems • Toi needs to be spread out much more • Youth should be given more PK/PP toi Depth Chart currently from my eyes Hyman - McDavid - Savoie Podkolzin - Draisaitl - Kapanen Nuge - Dickinson - Frederic Dach - Samanski - Hutson Ekholm - Bouchard Walman - Murphy Stastney - Emberson ? ? Extras: Howard, Lazar, Beryozkin, Leppanen, Regula, Ungar Many of these extras should be in the NHL. I would be prioritizing Beryozkin and Howard at forward. I also prefer Leppanen/Regula as a 3rd Dpair than Stastney/Emberson. Edm probably has the answer to their goaltending problem inside their organization. Is that solution NHL ready? We don't know.

Subban saying Edmonton has never been that close to winning… They lost by one goal in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final. You literally can’t get closer than that. Is it too much to ask that National broadcasters know basic facts about teams in the league?

This is outright fear-mongering at this point, good grief. Fans and players are already disappoined by the outcome of this season, let's worry about 26-27 before we start obsessing over the long-shot "its possibles" for at least 2 years out from now. The team has the power both upstairs and on-ice to make this entire conversation even more irrelevant than it already is.

It’s interesting that our only focus seems to be on what 97 will decide to do, whether that’s this summer or next or whenever. And it’s obviously because he only has a 2-year deal. But I mean, nothing is stopping Leon Draisaitl from asking out one day if that’s what he wanted. Not saying he will nor do I have any feeling he will. But just because he signed an 8-year deal doesn’t mean he will necessarily play it out all in Edmonton.

I wonder if Rantanen, Pastrnak, Crosby want out after a first round exit, I wonder if Tampa loses, will Kucherov want out? Or is it just an Edmonton thing? #NHL #LazyNarrative
