नियति के कुचक्र में उलझी माता ने मांगा, "तपस्वी भेष में, उदास भाव से राम चौदह वर्ष वनवास करें..." सिया ने कहा," मैं भी जाऊंगी।" बात तीर्थाटन या पर्यटन की तो नहीं थी, बात बनवास की थी। वन, जहां असंख्य हिंसक पशु मनुष्यों के प्राण हर लेने को तत्पर घूमते हैं। वन, जहां अपनी फूहड़ बर्बर परम्पराओं के प्रसार में लगे विदेशी दैत्य ऋषियों को मार कर खा जाते हों। वन, जहां जीवन की प्राथमिक आवश्यकताएं भी बहुत कठिनाई से पूरी होती हों... और सीता हठ पर अड़ी हैं कि पति के साथ वन जाना है? कोई भय नहीं, कोई चिन्ता नहीं? किस बल पर, किसके भरोसे पर? राज्य त्याग कर अकेले वन जा रहे पति पर इतना भरोसा? हां। अपने जीवन साथी पर इतना अटूट विश्वास हो तो हर आंगन सिया का आंगन होगा, हर द्वार राम का द्वार होगा... राम और सिया यूं ही तो नहीं सदैव सर्वश्रेष्ठ युगल माने गए। किसी सुंदर जोड़े को देख कर यूं ही तो मुख से नहीं निकलता, "अहा! क्या सिया-राम सी जोड़ी है..." अशोक वाटिका में उदास बैठी सिया को मुद्रिका दी हनुमान जी ने। निराशा के महासागर में आशा की नाव दिखी... कुचकुच अंधेरे में प्रकाश की जोत... कहा पवनसुत ने, "चलो अम्मा! आज ही यहां से ले चलता हूं। इन दैत्यों में किसी के पास सामर्थ्य नहीं कि तुम्हारे पुत्र को रोक सकें..." पर माता ने फिर हठ पकड़ा, "नहीं। तुम्हारे साथ नहीं जा सकती। इसने राम की पत्नी का हरण किया है, इसे राम की शक्ति का अनुभव भी होना ही चाहिए। उन्हें भेजो पुत्र, इसे वे ही दंडित करें। सीता की खोज में भटकते विह्वल राम मरते जटायु से जिस रौद्र भाव में कहते हैं कि "तात आप स्वर्ग जा कर मेरे पिता को सिया हरण का समाचार न दीजियेगा, यदि मैं राम हूँ तो वह नीच स्वयं अपने समस्त कुटुंब के साथ जा कर उन्हें बताएगा कि उसने क्या अपराध किया था।" हनुमान जी महाराज को वापस लौटाती सिया के हठ में भी वही रौद्र भाव है... स्त्री को निरीह समझ कर उसके सामने अनर्गल प्रस्ताव रखते अहंकारी को दण्ड तो मिलना ही चाहिए, पर संबंधों की मर्यादा यही है कि यह दण्ड उसका पति दे। लोक में उसका गौरव इसी से स्थापित होता है। गांव देहात की देवियां किसी से उलझते समय इसी भाव से अपने पतियों का भय दिखाती हैं, " आ जाने दो मोहना के बाबूजी को, तुम्हारी सारी गर्मी न उतार दें तो कहना..." मोहना के बाबूजी कोई बड़े तोप हों यह जरूरी नहीं। उतना तोप होना महत्वपूर्ण भी नहीं, महत्वपूर्ण है वह भरोसा, जो सिया को राम पर था, जो आज के किसी मोहना की माई को मोहना के बाबूजी पर है... हम जीवन का रंग ढंग सीखते तो अपने देवताओं से ही हैं न... सिया हँसते हुए वन को चली गईं थी राम के भरोसे पर, पर राम? महल के सुख छोड़ कर चुपचाप वन के दुखों को सहने निकले उस राजकुमार को सर्वाधिक भरोसा किसपर रहा होगा... शायद सिया पर। शायद क्यों, सिया पर ही था। एक व्यक्ति जो आपको टूट कर प्रेम करता हो, वह निर्बल हो तब भी बहुत बल, साहस दे जाता है। राम के ऊपर सिया का भरोसा ही राम का बल था शायद... तभी तो, सिया के खोने पर टूट जाते हैं राम और रो रो कर पशुओं पक्षियों पौधों से सिया का पता पूछने लगते हैं... वैसे हमारे घरों में भी बाबूजी का बल अम्मा ही होती हैं। नहीं होतीं क्या? आप सभी को जानकी नवमी की शुभकामनाएं... 🙏

The year was 1734. The place was Lahore. A 10-year-old Hindu boy named Haqiqat Rai was studying in a madrasa like any other day, learning Persian alongside other students. With Basant Panchami approaching, a discussion began in class about the festival. During that exchange, a few Muslim boys allegedly spoke disrespectfully about Goddess Saraswati, and the rest of the class remained silent in support. Haqiqat Rai could not tolerate the insult. Though he stood completely alone, he openly protested against the entire class. As the argument escalated, Haqiqat Rai and the other boys were taken before the madrasa’s maulvi. There, the Muslim students falsely accused him of insulting Bibi Fatima. Since no one was willing to speak in his defense, the maulvi treated the accusation as a grave offense and decided to punish the child without properly investigating the truth. The complaint was then taken to the qazi, who declared it an insult to Islam and sentenced the young boy to public execution. His family pleaded for mercy before Zakariya Khan, the governor of Lahore at the time, but he also upheld the sentence without examining the facts. The execution was deliberately fixed for the day of Basant Panchami. Before his execution, the child was given one final choice: accept Islam, and his life would be spared. But Haqiqat Rai refused. On the day when much of the land was celebrating the festival of Saraswati, the 10-year-old boy bowed his head before the executioner and embraced death rather than abandon his faith. According to tradition, even his mother urged him in his final moments to accept conversion so he could live. But Haqiqat Rai is said to have smiled and willingly placed his neck before the sword. Until the Partition of India, every Basant Panchami, both Hindus and Muslims in Lahore would gather at his memorial in remembrance. It is because of children of such courage that Sanatan Dharma survived even its darkest centuries with its head held high.

इनका नाम स्मृति सिंह है। उनकी मुलाक़ात अंशुमन से इंजीनियरिंग कॉलेज के पहले ही दिन हुई थी। पहली नज़र का प्यार। एक महीने बाद ही अंशुमन का चयन AFMC में हो गया। उन्होंने 8 साल तक 'लॉन्ग डिस्टेंस रिलेशनशिप' (दूर रहकर रिश्ता) निभाया। 10 फरवरी 2023 को दोनों ने शादी कर ली। दो महीने बाद ही अंशुमन की पोस्टिंग सियाचिन में हो गई। 19 जुलाई 2023 की रात, जिस गोला-बारूद डिपो में अंशुमन तैनात थे, वहाँ आग लग गई। कैप्टन अंशुमन सिंह अपने साथी सैनिकों को बचाने के लिए आग में कूद पड़े। आग फैलते-फैलते मेडिकल रूम तक पहुँच गई। अंशुमन जान बचाने वाली दवाएँ लाने के लिए दोबारा आग में घुस गए। लेकिन, वे फिर कभी बाहर नहीं आए। उस समय उनकी उम्र महज़ 26 साल थी। 5 जुलाई 2024 को, स्मृति राष्ट्रपति भवन में राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू के सामने खड़ी थीं। उन्हें 'कीर्ति चक्र' से सम्मानित किया गया—जो भारत का दूसरा सबसे बड़ा शांतिकाल का वीरता पुरस्कार है। यह सम्मान उन्होंने अपने पति की ओर से ग्रहण किया। उन्होंने बड़ी मुश्किल से अपने आँसू रोके। और फिर ये शब्द कहे: "मैं खुद को उनकी सबसे बड़ी प्राथमिकता मानती थी। लेकिन अब पता चला कि मैं भारत के बाद, बस दूसरे नंबर पर थी।" पूरा भारत यह देख रहा था और उसकी आँखें नम थीं। इसके बाद, अंशुमन के माता-पिता ने मीडिया को इंटरव्यू दिए। उन्होंने कहा कि स्मृति की शादी को अभी सिर्फ़ पाँच महीने ही हुए थे। कि उनकी कोई संतान नहीं थी। कि वह सारा पैसा लेकर चली गई। और अगर उसे इसी परिवार में रहना है, तो उसे उनके छोटे बेटे से शादी कर लेनी चाहिए। रातों-रात, पूरा इंटरनेट स्मृति के खिलाफ़ हो गया। उसे 'गोल्ड डिगर' (पैसे की लालची), 'अवसरवादी' और 'असली पत्नी नहीं' जैसे ताने दिए जाने लगे। अंशुमन ने अपनी वसीयत में स्मृति को ही अपना 'निकटतम संबंधी' (Next of Kin) घोषित किया था। यह उनका कानूनी अधिकार था। उनकी अपनी मर्ज़ी थी। सेना ने भी इस बात की पुष्टि की थी। पेंशन स्मृति को ही मिली, क्योंकि अंशुमन ने खुद उसे चुना था। स्मृति ने इस पर कुछ नहीं कहा। उन्होंने कोई पलटवार नहीं किया। शादी के महज़ दो महीने बाद ही उन्होंने अपने पति को खो दिया था। राष्ट्रपति भवन में वे बिल्कुल अकेली खड़ी थीं। उन्होंने अपने पति का मेडल स्वीकार किया। और जब भारत ने इस बात के लिए उन्हें 'अपराधी' कहना शुरू कर दिया, तब भी वे चुप ही रहीं। उन्होंने भारत को अपना पति समर्पित कर दिया। और बदले में, भारत ने उनके चरित्र पर ही कीचड़ उछाल दिया। इनका नाम स्मृति सिंह है। इस नाम को हमेशा याद रखिएगा।

His name was Dhondo Keshav Karve. He was born in 1858 in a small village in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, into a poor family. His mother taught him one lesson early. Never accept a gift from anyone. Never lower your self respect for money. He carried that his entire life. At 14, he was married off to an 8 year old girl named Radhabai. That was how society worked then. She died in childbirth in 1891. He was left alone with a young son. When people told him to remarry, he said something that stopped the conversation cold. If I am to marry again, it will only be a widow. His friend’s father heard this and said then why look further. Marry my daughter Godubai. Godubai had been widowed at age 8. Within three months of her own marriage. Before she even knew, as she later said, what it meant to be a wife. Karve married her in 1893. His entire community excommunicated him. Newspapers across Pune, Bombay and Belgaum attacked him. Relatives walked away. He did not stop. He founded the Widow Marriage Association that same year. In 1896, he opened the Hindu Widows Home outside Pune. He sold personal belongings to fund it. He went without salary. The first student was his own 20 year old widowed sister in law. In 1916, he founded India’s first university for women. The SNDT Women’s University. It started in a single room with five students. Today, it has over 700 affiliated colleges serving millions of women across India. Albert Einstein personally expressed a desire to meet him. On his 100th birthday in 1958, the Government of India awarded him the Bharat Ratna. He lived to 104. In a country that told widows their life was over the day their husband died, one mathematics professor spent 104 years proving it wrong. Follow for real stories India never makes headlines about.
