Just quickly scanning his Wiki, I see that Miles Taylor had been in the Bush administration before becoming a Hill staffer, then joined DHS in Trump administration under John Kelly. But who, specifically. was the patron or mentor who recommended him for that gig?

NBC's @MattGorman mocks Democrats thinking they have great candidates in Maine and Michigan... "Well, look, ask Janet Mills. She's sitting at home right now. She no longer has a campaign. She was -- she's still the governor of Maine right now. And she lost to a oyster man or an alleged oyster man who's pretty rich up in Maine, Graham Platner, right? And he's going to take on Susan Collins and probably one of the most-watched Senate races in the country. But, you know, we've been talking a lot about Georgia. And if you'd asked me about a year ago, I would have said, you know, I think all things being equal, that's the best Republican pickup opportunity in the country. I no longer think that because I think Michigan, and this is an area where you're seeing a brutal Democratic primary. And one of them, to Ashley [Etienne's] point, is making Israel an issue. And yet Mike Rogers, who on our side, -- rare -- we don't have a primary. Mike -- who -- Mike Rogers ran narrowly short in 2024 and is beating all three Democratic candidates in head-to-head general election. So, that's something I'm watching. That's a real-life stress test, to your point on whether or not the far-left candidate, El-Sayed, can beat somebody who's -- Haley Stevens, a sitting congresswoman, and Mallory McMorrow, who is a darling of the democratic establishment."

Nobody can explain how Massie has been openly hostile and public about AIPAC for years and it wasn’t a problem until he tried to tank the OBBB. Anyone saying it’s because of his opposition to israel is intentionally lying to you.

On one hand, the framing is flatly false, since Massie’s loss was entirely self-inflicted. On the other hand, it is encouraging to see the fake news finally pivoting toward accepting President Trump as an electoral juggernaut, especially after a decade of insisting otherwise.

🚨 Do you understand what quietly happened in Kentucky tonight.. Mitch McConnell spent 41 years building the most powerful Republican machine in the Senate.. he blocked nominees.. killed legislation.. outlasted six presidents.. and bent the entire GOP caucus to his will for four decades.. and the moment he stepped back.. Trump walked in on May 1st.. endorsed Andy Barr.. offered the only real rival an ambassadorship.. and the rival dropped out the same week.. > Cameron — the man who was supposed to carry McConnell's network forward — entered with a polling lead.. raised money.. had the name recognition.. had the Christian conservative base.. > Barr had none of that early.. until Trump made one phone call and one diplomatic offer.. > Cameron finished at 30%.. Barr won with 60%.. > the seat McConnell held since 1984 flipped to a Trump loyalist in a single primary night.. > the first open Kentucky Senate seat in 42 years.. decided by an endorsement and an ambassadorship.. every single establishment figure watching this tonight told their donors "the McConnell network is durable".. every single one assumed the old machine had enough infrastructure to survive his retirement.. it didn't survive a single election cycle.. not a scandal.. not a Democrat.. not a generational shift.. one endorsement.. one ambassadorship offer.. and 41 years of political infrastructure collapsed in an evening.. the quiet part nobody is saying out loud.. Trump didn't just win a primary tonight.. he erased the last internal friction point inside the Senate Republican caucus without a single floor vote.. it's only getting quieter from here.. I'll keep you updated. Turn on notifications. 🚨

My good friend @RepThomasMassie lost tonight. He lost because he had the guts to stand up to the Epstein class and against the war. He won voters under 45 by 30 points. Tonight, I say to this voters who feel rejected by Trump. We welcome you. Join our coalition to take on a rotten system and stand for the working class over the Epstein class. We will build a movement to stand for Team America.

@seanmdav I imagine @SecRubio is not going to mourn much when Cornyn goes down. Cornyn’s endorsement of Crist in Florida (more than a year ahead of the 2010 primary) rallied Tea Party conservatives behind Rubio. Crist was forced to quit before the primary.

In 2010, Cornyn was very active in GOP primaries as the Senate GOP campaign chair at NRSC. He endorsed Mike Castle in Delaware (lost), Charlie Crist in Florida (lost), Jane Norton in Colorado (lost), Trey Grayson in Kentucky (lost), Murkowski (lost), and Specter (lost). Crist, Murkowski, and Specter all left the GOP.
Sean Davis@seanmdav

Fascinating note from a Senate historian friend: the last time two incumbent GOP senators were forced out in the same cycle was in 2010, when Bob Bennett and Arlen Specter were both given the boot by party voters. John Cornyn was the Senate GOP campaign chief that cycle.

Reckless social media influencers have again been sharing a wrong photo attributed to a m—ss shooter. Jakub Vazquez’s photo has been widely shared as the photo of deceased Islamic Center of San Diego gunman Caleb Vazquez. Jakub is speaking out about the disinformation. This happens frequently after m—ss shootings as people online chase after viral clicks and monetized engagement.
