I think I accidentally started a mini design movement. The “dither effect” that grainy, cinematic texture I’ve been using on my designs is now everywhere. Same lighting, same gradients, same energy. And honestly… I love it. When people start copying your style, it’s proof that your work shifted the culture even if just a little. You became someone’s reference. You made “that look” a trend. I used to think originality meant being the only one doing it. Now I realize: originality is being the first one brave enough to do it well. Tuki

@helloharuko Honestly… that’s a “good riddance” in my book! They’re not owed continued access to your work! Alternatively I would give a bonkers 4x normal cost price to at least emotionally counter working with them again. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this!

What would you do? Would love opinions (and might delete this later) I created some work for a CPG brand and their partnered studio last year. The studio founder was super condescending and imo unprofessional and rude. It actually blew my mind the way they gave conducted themselves in the meeting because I spent my 20's working in high pressure agencies and studios and never came across someone like this. I felt like I was being pounced on and borderline bullied. Also the energy from the wider design team was off. I told them I wasn't their best partner and the scope was modified and I got off the project as soon as I could. I told myself I am never taking any projects related to this studio. Fast forward a year, they come back asking if I could use the same render setup for a new launch. I said I'm not available and now the founder emailed me asking for my 3D working files. I still don't want to work with them but I get it that they want to aesthetically keep things aligned. What do I do? Options, ignore the email, charge them up the $$$ for my 3D working files or just tell them straight up that I don't want to work with them due to my experience last year. Thoughts?

Hey design friends, a client asked for me to put this pixel-y effect on my work. How does one go about this? Any help appreciated!

Being a designer or running an agency or being a founder / entrepreneur is awesome and cool, but also can be brutally taxing mentally and exhausting at times. Sometimes you win pitches, raise money, or have a big launch. And sometimes you don’t. Nothing beats a good support system of loved ones, friends, and peers in the industry. Plus, giving yourself some grace and love. I get hit up by someone every day going through it behind the scenes, and often I have to phone a friend too! To everyone hustling and striving, we cheer for your wins, and empathize with the low days too. ❤️
