𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰? The mountain bongo is the world's largest forest antelope endemic to Kenya, and found in Kenya’s highland forests (Aberdare Ranges, Mount Kenya, Mau, and Eburu).
The mountain bongo’s population has declined drastically due to poaching, disease, and habitat loss. Today, fewer than 100 are believed to remain in the wild, scattered across these isolated habitats.
But there is hope. Through dedicated breeding and rewilding efforts, KWS and conservation partners are working to restore populations and return these elusive animals to the wild where they belong.
