Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear says he received multiple calls suggesting McConnell may have died while he was hospitalized. Speaking with Katie Couric, Beshear said two separate calls from government agencies raised alarms and he sought reassurance about McConnell's condition. "I got two calls from agencies suggesting that Sen. McConnell had passed away," Beshear said. Kentucky congressman Thomas Massie has also questioned McConnell’s actual state of health. McConnell, 84, has been hospitalized or in a rehabilitation center for over a month. In his July 12 statement, his office reassured Americans the senator was working hard for Kentuckians, but was not yet able to return to the senate floor. “My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. While receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I’ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia." The McConnell office also released a photo that was widely scrutinized on social media. Many Americans have demanded more conclusive evidence that he is able to serve, such as a live interview or video statement.

BREAKING: Iran Launches Ballistic Missile at U.S. Base in Saudi Arabia The U.S. military conflict with Iran is ramping up. Iran has reportedly launched a ballistic missile targeting a U.S. military base in Saudi Arabia. It is the first reported Iranian attack on U.S. military infrastructure in Saudi Arabia in four months. A U.S. official confirmed to Axios' Barak Ravid that Iranian forces carried out the attack earlier Friday. Saudi authorities issued emergency alerts for the areas surrounding Al-Kharj and Yanbu before later lifting the warnings. The strike comes after nearly a week of sustained U.S. military strikes targeting Iranian military and IRGC infrastructure after the peace agreement fell apart. The Iranian attack on Saudi Arabia is part of an effort to widen the military conflict and ratchet up pressure on the Trump administration.
