@SteveLovesAmmo That we were always on the verge of getting blown up by the USSR.

@GovStitt I nominate permanent standard time for Oklahoma. I lived in Arizona for four years and loved the permanent standard time.

@MissFuzzball @kjgillenwater People fail to realize that we live on a globe, and what may be ok for Arizona would suck for Connecticut
The majority of people can enjoy day and having extra light after work
Virtually nobody is going to be up and about at 4am when the sun comes up on standard time

@CaptainCons What about the actual citizen that just got off work and has to get the lawn mowed. I usually avoid people that think it’s okay to tell their neighbors what to do. How about Cons keep to his own affairs and the neighbors will keep to theirs.

@brockpierson I do remember using Altavist as well as Excite.com, Yahoo among others.

People are not getting this.
In January, most of the country gets roughly 9–10 hours of daylight no matter what we call the clock.
Example:
STANDARD TIME:
☀️ Sunrise: ~7:15 AM
🌅 Sunset: ~5:00 PM
PERMANENT DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME:
☀️ Sunrise: ~8:15 AM
🌅 Sunset: ~6:00 PM
That is the SAME amount of daylight.
You did not gain sunlight.
You just moved the clock one hour later and created darker mornings in winter.
The sun doesn’t change.
The clock does

It’s imperative that we revert to STANDARD, not Daylight time, for two reasons, one of which you may have never considered.
You know the first: solar noon is closest to 12 o’clock all year. That means an equal number of hours before and after noon each day.
This also means earlier sunrises which are significantly better for establishing a healthy circadian rhythm.
The second reason is that nearly ONE THIRD of US counties are in the wrong timezone.
A significant swath of the country isn’t only an artificial hour ahead because of daylight time… but TWO HOURS ahead of true solar time.
Year-round daylight time, especially without recalibrating time zones, would establish this error permanently, affecting millions of Americans.
We should be letting the Sun dictate the day the way God made it. Arbitrary, artificial tampering would be worse for us all.
Fix the time zones and affix standard time.

@Undoomed Because he is a male. Also there is no such thing as a transgender any more than there is a "cis" anything.

Canonical keeps making decisions like they’re building a corporate ecosystem instead of a Linux distro.
Ubuntu became popular because it made Linux simple without taking freedom away from users.
Now everything feels forced:
- Firefox through Snap
- Snap everywhere
- Ubuntu Pro ads
This is not the Ubuntu we loved anymore.
It was never just about Snaps. It’s about trust.
Many Linux users left Windows/macOS to escape this kind of ecosystem control.
Fedora honestly feels closer to the old Ubuntu spirit now.
Might finally be time to switch to fedora

@brettatkin @NancyMace It is called living within your means. Stop spending.

@NancyMace How will you fund the state and local governments to pay for things like schools, police, firefighters, roads, etc? I'm not from SC, but I hear things like this, and I always wonder where the money comes from then.
