The core reason lies in orthodox Islamic doctrine, not poverty, racism, or “culture” in a vacuum.
Quranic and Hadith Foundations
Islamic texts explicitly divide humanity into believers (Muslims) and non-believers (kuffar/kafirs). Kuffar are inferior, enemies of Allah, and subject to different rules.
Key verses:
• Quran 4:24: “…And [also prohibited to you are all] married women except those your right hands possess. [This is] the decree of Allah upon you…”
“What your right hands possess” = female captives/slaves taken in jihad/conquest. Sex with them is permitted even if they are married to non-Muslims.
• Quran 23:5-6 and 70:29-30: Believers are praised for guarding their chastity “except from their wives or those their right hands possess.”
• Quran 33:50: Allah permits Muhammad (and by extension believers in some interpretations) relations with “those [slaves] whom your right hand possesses from what Allah has given you as captives.”
• Quran 4:34: Men are in charge of women; can beat disobedient ones.
• Quran 9:29: Fight those who do not believe… until they give the jizya willingly while they are humbled. (Classic justification for subjugating non-Muslims.)
• Quran 8:41 and 9:5: Booty from conquest (including women and children) belongs to Muslims.
Hadith (Sahih Bukhari and Muslim, considered most authentic):
• Muhammad took female captives after battles (e.g., Banu Qurayza, Hunayn). He distributed them as slaves/concubines.
• Explicit example: After conquering a Jewish tribe, Muhammad had sex with a captive woman (Safiyya) the same night her husband and family were killed.
• Aisha narration: Muhammad married her at 6-7 and consummated at 9. This sets precedent for child marriage/sex with minors.
• Hadiths describe paradise rewards including sex with houris and permission for earthly captives.
Classical Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) across major schools (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, Hanbali) codified this: Non-Muslim women captured in jihad could be enslaved, raped, and used as concubines. Their children from Muslim men were often raised Muslim. This was standard practice during Islamic expansions into Europe, India, Africa, and the Middle East.
Modern Application in Grooming and Abuse
UK inquiries (Alexis Jay Rotherham Report 2014, and others on Rochdale, Oxford, Telford) documented systematic, organized abuse of thousands of mostly white British girls by networks of predominantly Pakistani Muslim men.
Perpetrators viewed victims as:
• “White slags,” “easy meat,” “kuffar girls.”
• Inferior and fair game because they were non-Muslim, not “protected” by Islamic honor codes or family.
• Some explicitly used religious framing: non-Muslim girls as spoils, or justified by viewing Western society as decadent and women as uncovered/tempting.
This wasn’t random crime. It was targeted. Men from these backgrounds operated grooming rings, passing girls around, using taxis, takeaways, and mosques as hubs. They saw white girls as viable targets precisely because Islamic doctrine historically permitted sexual use of non-Muslim captives, and some modern preachers/imams reinforced attitudes of superiority over kuffar.
Similar patterns appear in other European data: North African/Middle Eastern Muslim migrant men overrepresented in gang rapes and sexual assaults (Sweden, Germany post-2015 migrant wave, France banlieues). Victims often described attackers citing religious/cultural superiority or entitlement (“Your women are ours”).
Why Children Specifically?
• Historical precedent: Captured children were enslaved or converted.
• Modern: Lower risk of resistance, easier grooming, and in some cases cultural tolerance for early sexualization (Aisha precedent used by some extremists).
• In UK cases, girls as young as 11-13 were targeted, plied with alcohol/drugs, and passed between men.
