@Meetup are you seriously increasing your fees by 100%?! Not a great gesture for community-led events, is it? #lookingtomove

Employee engagement has sunk back to early 2000s levels. The pandemic-era bump, which some hoped would herald a new age of employee centricity, proved fleeting. Not good!

@GinnyBuckley @Rhodos @ITVTonight I've just been to the Netherlands for a week. Didn't see a single pothole. Why are our roads riddled with them when a country with the same climate has none?

@MatthewMezey @HelenBevan That role is important, and the form it takes will depend on local priorities and contexts. If it were up to me, keeping things small and local would be a key design principle...

@PaulTrustWorks @HelenBevan Hi Paul, would you say that the Integrated Neighbourhood Teams you mention have very relational/convening type roles, like Buurtzorg Community Nurses and Local area Co-ordinators? If so, what labels do the roles have?

We aspire to large scale change for better outcomes in health & care. There are some great examples to learn from, such as the Buurtzorg neighbourhood care model (Netherlands). In this beautifully researched & written piece, @MatthewMezey describes pioneering teams that have applied Buurtzorg principles in the UK & Ireland. It's hard for such models to operate at scale here; traditional ways of leading/organising obstruct teams from operating non-hierarchically & collaboratively. If we want to implement new service models, we need to think about the whole systems in which they operate, not just the new model. Otherwise "It is like breaking off the tip of an iceberg and trying to get it to float somewhere else, without the structure below that underpins it". matthewkalmanmezey.substack.com/p/the-possibil…

@HelenBevan We're doing a lot of cross silo, cross organisation work even, on Integrated Neighbourhood Teams in the health and care sector and recognise all of this and more.

How to lead across a siloed organisation. Researchers studied senior leaders who are exceptional at cross-functional collaborative working. This is what sets these leaders apart. They: 1) put organisational/system goals above functional, team or personal goals 2) believe their role is to find expertise everywhere 3) seek to understand the motivations & constraints of those in other teams 4) find ways to win together 5) design with others right from the start, not ask them to "buy-in" to an existing solution 6) see relationship-building as core work 7) spend as much time leading across the organisation/system as they do with their own function hbr.org/2024/01/how-to… By Jeff Rosenthal and Molly Rosen. Plus my favourite graphic about siloed organisations from @voinonen
