Court Martial Remands Besigye Until December Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye and his associate Haji Obeid Rutale were on Wednesday charged at Makindye General Military Court Martial in Kampala with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition following their forced arrests in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday, November 16, 2024. They are accused of holding meetings outside Uganda to solicit funds meant to disrupt the security of their home country. The charges were filed against them as part of a broader investigation into activities that Ugandan authorities claim are intended to destabilize President Yoweri Museveni's government. The two have been remanded in custody until December 2, 2024 as the investigations into the case continue.

Contributing about 12% to the National GDP, the livestock industry has boosted job creation and improved the livelihoods of several stakeholders. At the official opening of this year's Livestock Breeders Show and Sale at the Jamhuri show ground, Nairobi, our State Departments' emphasis on contributing to the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) is evident through the various projects being undertaken. Promoting genetic research and development of embryo transfers is a much needed breakthrough for dairy farmers, as it guarantees that heifer calves are born for milk production. With such a milestone, over 1 Billion litres of goat milk and 7 Billion litres of cow milk will be produced annually. We welcome Kenyans to this year's ASK show which is an ideal platform for livestock breeders to showcase their stock and products.
