@PaullLyons @1stChurchofGoff They should, but setting a legal precedent that that is above all else is fucking insane. If a company wants to make a little less money to pay employees more, that should be their decision. If an investor doesn’t like that, they have the option to not invest.

I fucking hate the “minimum wage is for high schoolers” talking point. A. No it isn’t, that’s historically inaccurate. B. Telling a kid to work hard and earn money the “right” way, then turning around and saying he deserves less just because of his age is bullshit. Pay should be based on performance. Nothing else. If you’re against raising the minimum wage, that’s fine. Make a better argument that isn’t belittling kids trying to work hard and earn something for themselves.

Obviously investors should get paid, but it's usually short term profit instead of overall health of the company's lifetime

If you wanna get blackpilled, look into Ford vs. Dodge. Most “ultra-wealthy” CEOs couldn’t just pay workers more even if they wanted to. Henry Ford tried, he wanted to reinvest profits into higher wages and lower car prices. The Dodge brothers sued him and won, because a corporation is supposed to be run in the interest of its shareholders, not as a charity for employees. That case helped cement the idea that companies exist primarily to maximize shareholder value, not just take care of workers.
