Hold off on that garden planting! 🌱❄️ As we've been briefly mentioning the last few days, the first week of May looks, well, cold-ish. Obviously not bone-shattering cold, but still. Daily high temperatures could be more than 8°F below average at times. Average high temperatures for the first week of May statewide are usually right around 60°F. This means temperatures in the 50s for highs, perhaps high 40s would be in store, and overnight lows that could dip to frost formation levels. The WPC denotes that the Lower Peninsula has a 40-60% chance at these below-average temperatures occurring, especially on May 2nd and 3rd, with some residual effects on the days leading up to May 2nd. At least we aren't swearing with the forbidden "s" word... until the next sentence. Conditions do look mostly dry for the first week of May, but long-range models have been hinting at light lake-effect trying to mix in (both rain and s**w) by the May 3rd period. Still too far out to guarantee it, but it's a start. Trends are there, but the details will be refined as we move into the middle of next week. We are just the messengers.
