Daycare closed for COVID. My out of office message: I will be unable to attend meetings/answer emails as the US has systematically failed to protect young children and working parents. I will respond when my child is vaccine eligible, which may not be until 2023. #WomenInMedicine

@TheKidKidDoc Honestly my second had his revised, and it allowed significantly better tongue mobility, less gulping with feeds. I feel differently about it now.

I get the disturbing sense many unvaccinated people are delighting in the fact many fully vaccinated people are now getting sick with Covid.
They still don’t get why vaccines matter, and I’m afraid many will take that ignorance to the grave.

I've worked on infectious disease outbreaks for 30 years. I've NEVER seen anything like the speed of Omicron. It's as infectious as measles spreading in a non-immune population, with a much shorter incubation time therefore much faster doubling time. Hope it's a lot less severe.

Welp, we’ve reached the stage in the pandemic where my otherwise healthy 2 month old with RSV+ bronchiolitis can’t get the necessary respiratory support, because all of the high-flow nasal cannula machines are being used on unvaccinated adults with COVID. 1/

Incredibly disappointing news as omicron is sweeping through the US and our young, unvaccinated kids are totally exposed. We need to know from Pfizer: -Did higher doses for 2-4 year olds get tested? -What is protective effect after 2 doses (some might be better than none)?

A year ago I was so excited to have my first COVID vaccine. Now finding out that the trial failed and I can’t vaccinate my babies for another 4-6 months. This is terrifying. I just want to protect them. 😢

Your child needs you around.
Too many kids have lost a parent to COVID19.
The most important thing that you can do to be sure that you are around for your child is to #GetVaccinated.
If not for you, then for your child.
