Marathon's new update disappoints as they record another new record low of only 15.5k players during off-peak hours. Against a $250 million development budget with ongoing costs, this is not looking good for this game, as a lot of players complain that it's not different enough from Tarkov to give it an identity other than the art style, with the core gameplay loop being too similar.

I am not playing either of them myself but have at least checked marathon out because I play shooter games but no sense checking Spire since I don't play those games ever.

MegaCrit, devs of Slay the Spire 2, are now dunking on Bungie's Marathon. The game has broken 400,000 concurrent players on Steam while Marathon didn't even reach 100k.

@BN_Bears_ @Pirat_Nation Still doesn't make sense to compare, a supposedly hard core extraction shooter is not going to pull a lot of people, most people don't like true extraction shooters they prefer light ones like Arc Raiders which is very casual friendly compared to any extraction on the market.

Indie game Slay the Spire 2 just launched in early access on Steam and has 145,000 active players It beats out Marathon which has 85,000
