FAKE NEWS MUST STOP The rate at which some media houses push unverified stories just to trend is alarming. This kind of misinformation misleads the public and erodes trust in security institutions. Accuracy should never be sacrificed for attention. @NigeriaStories always fact check, don't just tweet for trend especially when it involves issues on national security.

@Chippy20Chips @ruffydfire Old men who are close to their graves acting like fóóls. Indeed, like Elihu said in Job 32:9

These men are greatly fôôlish.

@DeeOneAyekooto ADC, PDP, LP are not ready to present a formidable opposition based on ideology. Everyone of them just wants to grab executive power. Go back to the grassroot, take back the villages, towns, cities, get more reps, senators and gradually take over in true democratic fashion

THE GRAVE CONSEQUENCES OF COUP ATTEMPTS: WHAT THE LAW SAYS
By Nwaezi Victor
Many people on social media speak about coups as if they are trending topics meant for engagement. But the truth is simple, a coup attempt is one of the most serious crimes any citizen or group can commit against a State. And in Nigeria, the law leaves no room for ignorance or excuses.
Under Nigerian law, treason and treasonable felony are clearly defined and heavily punished.
1. What the Law Says (Penal Code Act, Sections 410–412)
•Section 410 defines treason as levying war against the State with the intention to intimidate or overthrow the President or government.
•Section 411 states that anyone who commits treason “shall be punished with death.”
•Section 412 covers treasonable acts such as:
•Attempting to remove a President or Governor by force
•Conspiring to levy war
•Inviting foreign forces to invade Nigeria
•Using violence to compel the government to act outside constitutional processes
These offences carry life imprisonment, long-term imprisonment, or severe fines, depending on the degree of involvement.
2. Ignorance Is Not a Defence
The law does not accept “I didn’t know.”
Even concealing information about a coup plot is a crime that can lead to life imprisonment. The seriousness of these offences is why security agencies treat any hint of rebellion with urgency.
3. Why It Matters
Coup attempts don’t just target a government. They target national stability, civilians, the rule of law, and the constitutional order that protects everyone.
This is why countries respond with decisive force and stiff penalties to prevent chaos and the collapse of the State.
Before anyone tweets carelessly about coups, trends, or “supporting” unconstitutional actions, remember, the law is clear, the punishment is severe, and ignorance has never been a shield.
Stay informed. Know the law. Think before you post.
