Friday, June 9 will be a remote-instruction day for the students who were scheduled to be at our schools. Additionally, it will be another remote-work day for staff—including school-based, district, and central staff.

@nysut Why hasn't Juneteenth been celebrated since 1865 when this occurred? Why did this take so long to value and celebrate? YES, it became a tool to USE when it became important to forward a political agenda. If not, this would've been celebrated a lot longer than 3 or 4 years.

@RyTheGoat_ @NYCSchools Another excuse to shut school and keep the kids on a tablet. Most will be hanging outside all day causing problems.

@NYCSchools NYC Public school students were already off these 2 days regardless of any air quality issues. Why is anyone bugging out. Any senior student events can be rescheduled for over the next 2 weeks. Proms are another issue obviously

For schools serving grades 9-12 and 6-12 in Districts 1-32 and 79: Students and staff in these schools were scheduled to attend school in-person on June 9, we are shifting to remote instruction. Additional guidance will be shortly forthcoming to instructional staff.

@NYCSchools Unlike last school year when all students were given remote devices at most schools as a precaution for Covid remote days, this is not the case this year. How presumptuous to assume every family has sufficient (or even any) remote devices to accommodate all their in school kids.

@nysut I am a retired NYSUT. teacher. Our public schools are a target for gun violence BECAUSE children are learning in a No Gun Zone. Schools need to call law enforcement WITH A GUN who arrive AFTER children are killed. What is in place now is not working!
