Would you rather them put zero effort because they don't feel like they can complete the comm, or them respectfully decline it for their own morals. I think it's severely irresponsible to put an artist on blast for refusing in a polite manner and it's even more so given there were no censors on top of the follower disparity. Now that person's business email is being flooded with vitriol and other disgusting content.

Not to be that guy but businesses quite literally can't refuse service for *any* reason. There's a collection of reasons they are explicitly barred from using. (But no, political beliefs are not one of those reasons) However, if you believe this, you also have to both acknowledge and support potential clients exposing the reasons businesses discriminate. I don't see why her calling this out is a problem. Wouldn't that only scare off people the artist already refuses to do work for?

Well you're transphobic and think transgender surgeries are self harm.
So yeah, an artist is allowed to say no to having their work associated with your transphobic ideology. People might worry they agree with you. Publicly shaming an artist for that is stupid as hell

Peneep. The same thing happened the other way around with Bud Light. When woke activist bullshit pandering happened in 2023 and most of the clients who were conservative stopped buying it and recorded videos shooting cans of Bud Light.
The Bud Light company even after backtracking on their decision, the comoany still has a net loss, and is still recovering from it.
This is a cautionary tale and best example to show you companies make bad business strategies and also can shoot themselves on the foot too.

if making art for someone exposes your brand to morons who care about who you are affiliated with, it's more advantageous to avoid association.
Dealing with customers at a restaurant or selling products is a different dynamic.

I understand the free will argument however, in a real world you learn to "SUCK IT UP".
"SUCK IT UP" is the grown up action of doing your job, regardless if you don't like the client you are dealing with.
Me dealing with shitty customers at a restaurant or when I was selling products to other customers on a different job is a given.
What matters is that you don't let your emotions run free. You HAVE to keep your composure.

Let me get this straight: A VTuber is publicly calling an artist “unprofessional” and claiming the artist “cost themselves a commission,” even though the artist politely declined the job after spotting a clear conflict of values.
In reality, the artist acted professionally by refusing work they couldn’t support in good conscience, while the VTuber decided it was a good idea to air their grievances on Twitter.

Everyone is entirely valid for declining a Commission Request for any or no reason at all.
