Thinking about siege balancing; Is goyo one of the strongest defenders ever? Has zero real counters ( no way to remove the fire which lasts for 20 seconds ) Gone unchanged for years Before his rework he was giga strong due to having 3 deployable shields, Has TCSG acog

@Twippz Shoot mid air and EMP - if you did either and it still triggered the smoke then maybe not, but my point is you can’t destroy the canister in ANY way without the fire still happening, lose lose

@Pengu in a way smoke has no counters too but yeah goyo is insane i just think with them removing all the acogs on d exept a few has made all the ops so strong obviously and i do think doc and rook and that need there acogs back there completely out of play now

@Pengu Imo he’s a in a good spot. Fire damage is laughably low despite lasting 20 seconds. You can literally run past it and isn’t always the best deterrent.

@Pengu No counters isnt remotely fair theyre stationary utility if you twitch drone all the goyos on site 30 seconds into the round hes effectively done nothing

@NEMESSYYSS TBF 80%? Of siege gadgets are predictable, it’s mostly done in prep phase or same use cases in action phase, it’s hardly an argument

@Pengu his downside is that the gadget its predictable, you know there will be fire for 20 seconds in those 4 specific spots, you know you can do something else during that time, not like smoke where you dont know if a 2nd gas canister will come after the 1st one

@Jogorku I want interaction; the only way to early clear in many scenarios is twitch, requires a drone deep in the site / building and super unreliable, other is soft util which has needs elsewhere plus can be protected with wamai ( since he is buffed) No other defender is like this

@Pengu i feel like no counters is a stretch since you are viewing it after it’s deployed, you just have to work around clearing them early which just adds a step in your attack what type of counters are you thinking of him possibly having? or you mean more like adjusting time or dmg?

@Dezachu That’s the thing, he flies under the radar entirely, he isn’t measurable, but it’s so common we just sit there for 20 seconds watching a player unable to play the game, imagine if you couldn’t melee castle barricades, if you wouldn’t have soft breach, you’re just stuck

I've thought it a lot myself too. Survives every meta, can be played as a roamer or an anchor, gadget wastes SO much time with little counterplay (as you say), decent weapon choices, many a reason. BUT NIC LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT THE NUMBERINOS 6th for rounds played/pick rate (Smoke 8k, Azami 6.9k, Ace 6.4k, Mute 6.1k, Warden 5.7k, Goyo 5.5k) 29th for RW% (everyone above him is a defender too) 43rd for EPS 40th for KPR 23rd for times banned 18th for presence (picked rds + banned rds) Numerically, he's not insane, but like you said, his impact on a round isn't direct impact. Still wins you rounds innit

@Pengu Good doesnt mean needs to be balanced. A good op can be played just about every single site and have impact. Thats a good thing. I thibk hes in a perfect spot(asidd from tcsg acog)

@Pengu I'm not that good a player but if a Goyo ain't on a door or window and the Goyo player is lower ranked maybe use Sens to block line of sight so they can't shoot it immediately
