Fun fact: I have had a GI intolerance to grapes for most of my life. It peaked in my mid-20s where I could no longer ingest grapes, raisins, grape juice, and wine without becoming ill and sometimes throwing up. (Any grape product cooked was fine.) I once accidentally ate some raisins 7 years ago and threw up all night long. This grape intolerance meant I could not ingest the blood of Christ during the holy communion. Well, I've concentrated the last few years on building up my gut bacteria. I started with various kombuchas, other fermented drinks, fermented foods, and Greek Yogurt. I eventually transitioned to kombucha with raisin juice and now I can have a sip of wine at communion without getting ill. It is a huge accomplishment for me. I know it may sound silly, but I do feel a huge difference being able to have both the body and blood of Christ.
