@ByuSome Do those cases really seem that similar? Hearing God's voice directly (wherever from) is not strange in religion. The drinking selection was the message content, not a strange medium. This feels like reaching to normalize the hat thing.

I swear so many mainstream Christians never open their bibles. God talked to Moses in the form of a burning bush. The disciples cast lots for revelation. An army was selected by revelation based on how they drank water. But Joseph Smith using a seer stone referenced in the Bible in a hat to see is just WAY too far.
Danny@Truth_matters20

Mormons hate this fact, but it's true. Joseph Smith put his face into a hat and claimed to have received divine revelation. Why would ANYBODY believe that to be true?

@IJustDoItForThe @CheeksCowboy @churchtalkative Alternatively, if they are not part of Jesus' church, they are not truly Christian. I suspect the OP uses the word "Christian" traditionally while the reply of pointing to the name of the mormon organization intends it the pc way (which refers to a group of contrary religions).

Mormons are not Christians. Jehovah’s Witnesses are not Christians. Seventh-day Adventists are not Christians. People who don’t follow the Bible are not Christians.

@thececilyjane @AndrewBragg5555 @HonestYPTweets not sure the historic church taught ex-philosopher or that doing so is circular of all things. But even so, it would not save the idea above, the idea that one can know a document of 6xs the sufficient conditions for unreliability is immune to such things because *it says so*. 🤷‍♂️

@Penjammin @AndrewBragg5555 @HonestYPTweets Would it not be circular to say that we believe it because a philosopher said so? That's how every other Christian sect gets their doctrine. We we get it from the great Jehovah. The Holy Ghost confirms His words. In other words, an outside source. Far from circular.

(P.S. To my knowledge, none of these points contradict Mormonism. So, enjoy. 🙂)

Using "Christianity" to refer a group of contrary religions, rather than the one historic Jesus religion (or else to true followership of Jesus per se) is a modern innovation, p.c. dictionary manipulation that does not become followers of Jesus but is expected of a cult.

I went to Broadway Bar in Grand Rapids, Mich., last night. It's a year-round Christmas-themed bar for Notre Dame fans. Even the bartender wore an interlocking ND hoodie with Christmas lights glistening all around her.

@Manhattva @HonestYPTweets Cute, and no response to the marketing points, so the misleading characterization remains exposed, but now there's nothing left to say. *Strums fingers* . . . . . . . . . . . *goes for coffee*

@Gunstar_One @HonestYPTweets "Christian" refers to either a member of the historic Jesus religion (not mormonism) or to someone that follows Jesus Christ. Mormons being Christian in that sense would entail that only the mormons truly follow Jesus. (Suuure.) Only false definitions include cults in principle.

Pick up a dictionary. A Christian is someone who worships Christ as the Son of God and strives to follow his teachings, there is no requirement to adhere to a specific interpretation of the Bible or dogma. So we LDS are most certainly Christians. The false idea that you have to endorse the creeds created centuries after Christ to be a Christian is just a marketing ploy. Year after year there are fewer and fewer people pushing the lie that we are not Christians because the truth that we are is so apparent. Your grandchildren are going to agree that the LDS are Christians, or their children will.

the Prophet Joseph Smith declared, “The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it”

@AndrewBragg5555 @HonestYPTweets Why think that? Others would say they follow the Bible and that the 300 year alter creeds are closer than the 1800 year later works of mormonism. Makes some sense. Why they wrong?

@HonestYPTweets Yes. We use the words spoken by Jesus and you use creeds written 300 years later by men with no authority. This matters.

@Manhattva @HonestYPTweets It's not though. That group includes plenty of historic Christians and their beliefs that mormonism adamantly rejects. Like the "just another kind of Christian card" marketing, the non-creedal label looks good but doesn't pan out.

@HonestYPTweets Actually, "Mormonism" is the Restored Church of Jesus Christ on the Earth in the Last Days. It defines theology differently, because it restores the truths that were lost both anciently and in New Testament times. It invites all to enter Covenant relationship with Jesus.
