Today and tomorrow are going to be very tough days for me. I hate to be vague, but I'm going through some stuff personally 😥 I would love it if you could send anything funny, or a kind word. Hugs are also always welcome. Thank you, in advance 🤗❤️

When mom picked me up from daycare, the owner said they had a new dog that was pretty nervous. So they paired her up with me so I could show her the ropes. They said I did a really good job - and mom said I’m a very good boy! #dogsofx #dogsoftwitter

There’s finally proposed legislation for an accessibility act in Alberta — Bill 206 — but as someone with a significant disability, the comments here are gut-wrenching. There's an awful lot of animosity and outright disregard for people with disabilities — we get looked down upon a lot, like our needs are a burden or punchline. Those kinds of comments really suck when you're the one living the daily barriers they dismiss and demonstrate the attitude we have to face every day. Yeah, a lot of the comments are politically motivated… but accessibility isn’t partisan. It’s basic dignity, and it could affect any of us at any moment — even temporarily. As a power-wheelchair user in Edmonton with my service rottie 🦽🐕‍🦺, much of my "normal" day sucks because: • High thresholds block me from coffee shops/local stores — a cheap ramp could fix it • Even in new strip malls, most places don’t have a power door button, so I’m often stuck begging strangers for help just to get inside • “Accessible” bathrooms too tiny to turn or close the door • "Accessible" Parking that won’t fit my van ramp, it really sucks to get blocked out of your vehicle when it's cold out. Then the big stuff hits harder: • Doctor/clinic offices without ramps/auto doors or even worse, adjustable exam tables a person can transfer onto • Finding accessible rentals? Nearly impossible — sure they have to have ramps and elevators, but the individual units aren't required to be accessible at all. Buying an accessible house is even harder. Developers could be required to offer an accessible option when they build new communities, but until they have to do this, they won't. Most people just don’t care because it doesn’t affect them… yet. Everyone becomes disabled at some point, even temporarily. When it effects them, they’ll wish Alberta had proactive standards. The Human Rights Act? 2+ years of stress per complaint. We’re forced to beg/negotiate constantly. Bill 206 flips it: standards, plans, trained staff upfront so barriers get removed before we fight for them. Dignity over daily battles. Alberta — support this now. I don't care what political party you support. Because it isn't about politics. It's about being able to have a life with some semblance of quality. #Bill206 #AccessibleAlberta #DisabilityRights @MarieFrRenaud

Hello Monday. Back at @alpine_animal . It’s Catherine O’Hara’s turn! Her right tear duct has failed. No tears = infection. * This is not from her eye surgery. That was a complete success and she is completely healed. This is from diabetes. Dry eye and tear duct failure is a known complication. Cornea is not damaged. We can treat this!! I was able to pay her bill on site but now my well is dry. If you would like to help replenish it, I would greatly appreciate it. theherdhouse.com.

We don't can vegetables because the economies of scale do not support it at our size, but the Canadian canners that do are facing a real competitive problem with canned veggies flooding in from China and Egypt. Unchecked, it could put Canadian veggie canners out of business. If Canada were to lose its capacity to make its own canned veggies, it would represent a threat to national security. Not advocating for protectionism, just pointing out losing the canning industry in Canada is not great for food security long term.

I'm Chesnyy—CKC high-point Rottweiler in rally obedience for the last two years. 🏆🐾 But last season was ruff. Static from the wheelchair tires caused shocks when I heeled, and twice the floor mats caught in the castors and the entire floor started to chase me...I started getting suspicious any time we went in a ring. It didn't feel fun anymore. And there were a lot of other life changes last year so we were already dealing with stress. And trust me, us dogs can smell human stress a mile away and it does affect us. We took the fall and winter off from trials—no rings, no judges. Just my regular work days, treats, snoozes, and puppy adventures. Now we're back: we're easing our way in. Instead of going right back to Master level rounds, we're starting back at intermediate AND advanced rounds this weekend. This will make sure neither the human or I get too stressed. And yeah—we're the only wheelchair-handler team around so sometimes between travel, unloading, set-up, and dealing with accessibility challenges she's already running on empty before we hit the ring entrance. This practice 🎥? Tail doing happy waves, grin locked in. No zaps, no floor monsters—just happy paws and us owning it. If this makes you smile, hit like or share? Helps us keep rolling. (Bacon still welcome, though.) 💕 #RallyObedience #WheelchairTeam #CKCTopDog #RottieComeback

Exactly. There are some good things happening on Toronto's waterfront, especially the Port Lands areas. I can't imagine why we would want more jets flying overhead when we have a world-class airport just 25 minutes away thanks to the awesome @UPexpress 👍.
Emily@YYZemily

I can't believe anyone has actually thought about having jets taking off and landing right next to the CN Tower. Nevermind all the condos and financial buildings. (Pearson is nearby and there's transportation infrastructure to get there) Imagine the insurance for everything?

IBD is not restricted to the bowels. It’s in the cells - it can go everywhere. Yeasty ear infections are a real symptom. The stool odor - it’s a sweet smell. The volume is severe. There can be blood and mucus, or it can be liquid and grainy. He has liquid and grainy. This is not good for a dog that has to wear diapers. Kiefs does not have full feeling back there. He’s not in pain. I feel it all for him. The rash swelling & oozing was instant this time.

Kiefer pup. Poor kid is having another attack of diarrhea. No bugs. No foreign objects. Same consistency & odor with massive bottom inflammation as 2 months ago. The volume is severe. The diaper rash is severe. And the same yeasty ear infection. With the repeat, we suspect Inflammatory Bowel Disease. IBD is not the IBS that people get. There is no cure and it can be fatal. (Liza has it). You can manage the symptoms so that’s what we’re going to do. I do not want to put him through exploratory surgery for biopsies just yet. If he has another episode we will have to. He is on a slew of medications & got his ears flushed out. We are eliminating all food triggers and putting him on Owen’s food (Z/D). He loooves it. You can help with his treatment by donating to theherdhouse.com.

I'm very confused about Ontario's plans, especially here in Toronto. So long, bikes, nature, science centre. Hello jets, beer, spas. Sorry about the overflowing hospitals. But, also, yes to virtual healthcare cuts. Elementary students are failing. Too bad, we will keep underfunding education. Let's prioritize a return to paper-based report cards. However, no AI plan/curriculum guidance for K-12 despite massive AI job disruption.
