My personal opinion on the subject is that it’s not necessarily bad but….If someone enters ag representation for the sole reason of using that as a launching pad for their political career or as a consolation prize for losing out on being a “real” politician then I have a massive problem with that.

Is it a good thing when farm lobby leaders go into politics or is it a bad thing?
Do you want more farmers closer to decision making positions or does it hurt the industry in future negotiations with various sides of politics...

Europe has introduced CBAM, which is effectively a carbon tariff.
Australia is considering the same; this makes no sense as we have no domestic manufacturing currently.
This will cause huge damage to the sector.
