Remember when Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, made a pointed remark following the visit of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Nigeria: “Tell them we don’t accept nakedness in our culture. That is not beautiful. It’s not beautiful at all.”
And she’s absolutely right. Modest dressing in formal settings is closely tied to respect, dignity, and how one chooses to present themselves within a culture. It’s not just about clothing, it reflects values, awareness, and respect for the setting and the people around you.
Meghan Markle didn’t just miss the mark, she disregarded it completely. When someone enters a cultural space and prioritises self-display over respect, it speaks volumes about their judgment and their regard for others. And Meghan Markle failed spectacularly.
