Yesterday, as an early Christmas 🎁, @EU_Health adopted the ban of Bisphenol A (BPA) in food contact materials (e.g. coating on metal cans, reusable plastic drink bottles, water distribution coolers & other kitchenware). A win for consumers!

Some mixed news from 🇪🇸 on child obesity. While the situation has improved on average, prevalence of overweight and obesity remains unchanged in kids from lower-income families. Shows the need for policies to improve access to healthy food for all, regardless of income level.

“European consumers expect their food to have the same standards of production regardless of where it comes from”, @beuc’s @arcapde commented on #Mercosur. Without import requirements in EU law to ensure everybody plays by the same rules, the deal shouldn’t be ratified.
