In my career I've worked for eleven companies, been made redundant three times, taken voluntary redundancy once, had a fixed term contract run out, and spent nine months on the dole thanks to the government's lunatic COVID response. I wonder what it must be like to work in the public sector and have a guaranteed job for life, and a final salary pension, all paid for by the tax of people in the private sector whose job may end at any time with a month's notice.

Just got off the phone with an incredible entrepreneur running a retail business in the UK. The Budget changes around National Insurance mean he is forced to pay an additional £1.5M per year. 5 locations will become unprofitable. As a result, he will let go of 125 people. You cannot tax your way to growth. Ever.
