Just spoke to an Advisor in the USA whose branch has $350m under advisement. They sell @Fidelity products and have not been educated on any #Bitcoin related opportunities. It’s on the portal, but no real education. I told her, a 1% allocation to #Bitcoin in 2020 at $5,000 would have netted her a branch a $50,800 fee (1.45% of AUM). Without rebalancing, that fee today - in the bear market - would be worth $408,000. And this is all with a 1% allocation. In addition, her clients wealth would have grown from a $3.5m allocation to a $28m allocation and they’d be telling their neighbours to move advisors. She said she’s going to immediately look into @Fidelity @DigitalAssets’s #Bitcoin products. The conversation lasted 16 minutes. The wave hasn’t even started yet.

Bitcoin follows a highly bumpy "jump diffusion" process. It's not a lognormal random walk. The best conceptual model for Bitcoin prices is this: trend sideways or down for a random period. Then jump massively higher. in just a few days. Then go back to sideways or down. In a bull market like 2023, thats the behavior. In a bear market like 2022, the behavior is the same, but the sudden jumps are negative. If you try to "see a pattern" in the sideways period, you will do nothing other than take yourself out of the 10 days a year when Bitcoin rips. Trend-following is a particularly bad algorithm here. Which is why I am sceptical of any attempt to "smooth out the drawdowns with timing". The "jumpiness" of Bitcoin make Hodling the only viable strategy. Those who can live with the vol get rewarded, big time. Wall Street, with its obsession on sharp ratios will only pick up a small percentage of the return. I would advocate being much more aggressive here.

@dotkrueger So we've had the spot etf and now we can all get in a frenzy of excitement and pump about 'the halving'. Always has to be a narrative with bitcoin.
