Well why don't we go back to the old system, up to the discretion of the headteacher, based upon your attendance record? Make kids attend for the rest of the year and then if they need to take an occasional day off they can take it off because they've had amazing attendance during the year. It's the kids that are off all the time and then take a week off; they're the ones that are swinging the lead.
