Frustrated by the plethora of old Soviet movies on Youtube (and elsewhere) without subtitles? Help is at hand. 1. Download it (Help to Build Socialism). 2. Rip the Russian audio track (say using ffmpeg). 3. Use WhisperX to transcribe the Russian audio to a .srt file. (Forget the crappy job Youtube does at this and don't use theirs). 4. Give the .srt file to Claude to translate to English. 5. Good times.

@London_W4 That’s the same bottle of Petrus they had since the day they opened. Different price, though.

And now I’m here in the corner shop next to Battersea Power Station, perusing the wine selection. They have a bottle of Petrus for £4250. Yes, four thousand two hundred and fifty pounds. The people who live here are rather wealthy. Your corner shop has wine for £4.25 because you’re poor.

If a Mansion Tax was introduced on property valued at over £1.5m then surely a person living in a property valued at £2m with a mortgage of £1m should be exempt?

UK house prices rise 0.2% in June as mortgage rates ease UK house prices saw a modest increase of 0.2% in June, reaching an average of £299,330, according to the Lloyds house price index. This rise follows a period of decline and is attributed to easing mortgage rates after a spike linked to the Iran war. piqmarkets.com/real-estate-pr…

@profsked The speculation itself surrounding property taxes will be the most destabilising force in play. I assume the government is doing this through design.

A private aviation broker in Switzerland offered me $150,000 for a 48-hour job. The task seemed straightforward: track down and recover a luxury Gulfstream G650 parked at a private hangar in Nairobi. The wealthy owner had defaulted on a massive international bank loan, and the asset needed to be quietly repossessed before local authorities seized it for unpaid airport taxes. I flew in on a Thursday night, thinking it was a routine asset recovery. I brought my own flight technician, a brilliant engineer who can bypass any avionics security system in under ten minutes. By 2:00 AM, we bypassed hangar security, slipped inside the cockpit, and hooked our diagnostics hardware into the jet's central computer. But the moment the avionics lit up, our terminal screen began flashing a series of bizarre, non-standard flight telemetry errors.

Indeed! Quite something and will have knock on in finance as they’re not the only ones. I’m not sure about law and accountants, as I think their partnerships within LLP’s are as salaried employees, so they’re probable not on the list. NI is serious business for government and no one should underestimate HMRC’s reach. I did enjoy Friday morning waiting for the pod to start. Fucking 4th of July, my arse!

@MrMBrown I’d say he’s admitting to being more successful at social media than trading. He definitely not Chris Rokos or Mike Platt (thoughts for Mike and his HMRC debacle. Actually, thoughts are for all LLPs as a result).

Gazza the Grifter could voluntarily contribute towards public expenditure, or even pay down some of the national debt, if he so desired…but spouting nonsense in the media with a faux-east end accent is easier I suppose… 🤦‍♂️

Dave Ramsey tells caller with $1,500,000 she can withdraw $10,000 a month without running out of money Caller: “I'm a 62-year-old divorcee. I have zero debt. I don't own a home, but my car is paid for, and I'm living with my partner, who does not charge me rent. I have approximately $1.5 million in retirement funds. What is a good amount that I could take out monthly and still have enough to live on. My biggest fear is running out of money. I live very frugally now. I live on $2,000 a month and I think I just need guidance” Dave: “Let's just do some basic math. What is your $1.5 million invested in?” Caller: “Traditional IRAs, Roth IRAs... mutual funds, growth stock mutual funds” Dave: “The portfolio is averaging what the market has averaged. So let's pretend it's going up by 12% a year. If you pulled off 8%, that means it would still go up by 4% a year. Eight percent of $1.5 million is $120,000 a year. That's $10,000 a month” “Here's the idea: if we make 12% and we pull off 8%, we never touch the $1.5 million, and it grows by 4% a year. You never even touch the principal, much less run out of money. It's perpetual. It's mathematically infinite if you don't touch it”

Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez: Without immigration, Spain would lose 19% of its gross domestic product by 2050 and 22% by 2075. 90,000 bars would be forced to shut down. While others unfortunately use migration for political purposes, we are making migration policy.

He could buy a suit for a start but we know from previous ministers that good ones don’t come cheap, and cheap ones don’t look good. So he decided to go ‘urban Manx’, which is probably the safest bet. Which is AB all over. Safety over the bold hand required to managed us out of the situation that got KS fired in the first place! Splitting up the body parts won’t disguise the crime. Murder, most foul!

EMO was a great trader. He would walk into the Hog pit to talk to Terry Duffy and leave with 200 hogs on. He retired to Jacksonhole from NY and began to trad 100 lots from there in the NQ pit, remember, the NQ was $100 a tick. He lost a few million in a few months, he came into the pit. He was a total asshole. He was trying to find out how and who was robbing him. I was a brand new trader. He bullied us all and tried bullying me. I knew he could end my career real fast so I ate his shit for a few days. On a Friday I had enough, I cracked him with a straight right hand then tried to rip his larynx out his throat to beat him with it. I thought that was it-I was done. After they calmed it down the market closed and I left. I had nothing in my trading account. I had no idea what I was doing. I was bartending 6 nights a week to pay the mortgage on the condo my wife and my baby lived in Glencoe Illinois, 1 hour from the southside of Chicago where my friends and family lived. I was so down hearted. This sucked. I just got in a fight with the biggest trader in the pit. I would be back driving a truck or clerking in the Euros. I grabbed a shot of Irish, a beer and sat on the choo choo for the ride back to the land of the rich. Who sat next to me but EMO, i didn’t know what to think. He apologized to me. Told me why he was doing what he was doing. Told me he was waiting for me to stand up to show him who I was, he just wish I missed his jaw. He told me he was going to give me the best advise he was ever given. I sat in the edge of seat allowing some hope to come back in my eyes. He told me “don’t worry what the banks or funds are doing, don’t worry what the big traders that move markets are doing, if you think the NQ is going higher-get long. If you are wrong get out, if you are right learn to add and stay out of the way. Conversely if you think we are going lower get short, dont worry who is doing what, if you are right-add. If you are wrong get out”. The bell rung for Winnetka and he got his fat as off. I thought he was fucking with me again. How can it be that simple?? He was right. IT IS that simple. God rest his soul. Edmund died at 50 about 15 yrs ago. He was a GREAT trader.
