It’s a little known fact that Scotsman Wayne Bruce (descendant of Robert the Bruce) was the inspiration for The Batman Comics. Wayne who would wear a disguise and used his inheritance to take on criminals in the 1880s, this is also why Glasgow was used to depict Gotham in the Batman films as a homage to the true origin story. My great great grandfather’s cousin’s neighbor was Wayne Bruce’s Master Of the Stairs, an Irishman known to everyone as “Alf The Red” to those closest to him which is where DC got the idea for Alfred.

Just realized that Christmas this year is 25/25/25 and this hasn’t happened before.

Wrong. In 2003, NYC had a massive blackout, and while walking several miles home without a subway, my dad passed an ice cream store. Stuck without power and in throes of the August heat, they were giving away cones to anyone that would take them. Of course, this had made them a very popular stop, and by the time he stumbled across them, they’d run out of everything but pistachio. He’d never had it, but figured a free scoop was a free scoop, and gave it a shot. Today when he tells the story, he uses it as an example of how you’re never too old to learn something new about yourself. He was born in 1955, and I’ve never seen him order anything else since. It took him 48 years to find his favorite ice cream flavor, don’t let guys like this make it take longer for you.
