Twitter/X algorithm is so good at ensuring you only see the posts you like - my feed is full of comments on the severe coral bleaching event now in progress, and nothing from people who choose not to believe reality. And yet... no sign we are doubling down on mitigating emissions

I've increasingly been referring to Homo stupidus, but we need a new species name meaning 'obdurately blind and stupid' We knew in the late 1990s that bleaching would become more frequent and more severe if the world failed to cut emissions. Gee whiz. The scientists were right.

It is sad to see that global coral bleaching is occurring again. 1998, 2010, 2014-17, now 2023-?. We need to take every action possible to abate the climate crisis and we need to do it now!
