@RuiterWrongFAN Not necessarily…especially if we don’t use the 6 on him. Imagine if we trade back from 24, get a future 1st & take him at the back end of the 1st/top of the 2nd…you can take him & still take a QB next season. 🤷‍♂️ Kinda like the Cardinals w/drafting Kyler Murray…

If you draft Ty Simpson, you’re committing the next 2-4 years to him and are out on the 2027 QB Draft class. Is he worth that commitment to #Browns?

@coryskuza Bucs had a shit defense & he played the later half of the season injured, while he pretty much kept his team in the playoff hunt despite tons of team injuries the 1st half of the season. 🤷‍♂️ Seems like you have an axe to grind w/Baker.

He couldn’t even make it to the playoffs last year in the worst division in football
MLFootball@MLFootball

The #Browns' biggest mistake in the last 25 years was trading away Baker Mayfield. • Led Cleveland to their 1st playoff win since 1994 • Broke the NFL rookie TD record • Ended the team's 635-day winless streak Baker has turned into an elite franchise quarterback in Tampa.

@KeatGonEat @SamMonsonNFL I’m seeing a lot more reports going one way than the other… but also that’s the problem w/anonymous sources, it could all be ultimately coming from the same 2-3 people! 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

@PeterWelsh281 @SamMonsonNFL This is where youre wrong. There is 20 different reputable reports saying different things. That some GMs think the Ravens were bullshit, and then the Ravens and Ravens’ doctors saying that Maxx’s injuries were misrepresented

Alright, let's try and sort this mess in one post. I think the most likely thing is that there is truth that 1) Baltimore was concerned the medical scans etc were worse than the Raiders either think or were letting on. But ALSO 2) that they probably only back out with Hendrickson available. Both parts of that seem reasonable on all sides tbh. Schefter reports they also consulted with the Cowboys doctor, which may explain Dallas not re-engaging. So the totality of the evidence does NOT suggest they were nefarious and only pulled out cos they got buyer's remorse. But equally, I doubt they bail on it without Hendrickson available to pivot to. Honestly just seems like an unfortunate situation all around that is going to happen every now and then with subjective medical evals. But feel free to condemn whoever we believe is 100% to blame for all of this based off incomplete info.

@HoldenMcCoy1 @SamMonsonNFL Dianna Russini’s report seems to indicate people from multiple different teams are saying the Ravens were aware of the medical issues…but reporters can be sleazy too. Maybe “multiple people around the NFL” is referring to two Raiders employees! 😂😂😂 x.com/dmrussini/stat…
Dianna Russini@DMRussini

It’s been made clear by multiple people around the NFL at all levels that Baltimore had all the information and understood where Maxx Crosby’s knee was in terms of his recovery timeline. Many in the league believe GM Eric DeCosta and the Ravens ultimately just got cold feet.

@PeterWelsh281 @SamMonsonNFL I think you have to be able to do at least *some* critical thinking when considering “reports.” A journalist reporting they were FULLY aware of the specifics of his knee has to be getting that characterization from somewhere. And presumably that’s the Raiders and not the Ravens.

@StevePalazzolo_ OR…the Ravens looked at the medical, saw the red flags, & felt it was worth the risk + cost. Then after agreeing to it, realized that they could keep their 1st’s & get a comparable player for cheaper, so they backed out. Still slimy, but still poor market for Maxx. 🤷‍♂️

If everyone in the NFL thinks the Ravens are shady, they should be lining up to trade for a presumably healthy Maxx Crosby

I don't believe at all that two medical professionals will always draw the same conclusions from different scans/tests that were weeks apart, but even if that would be true, it's notable that the surgeon has an incentive to focus on the positive spin (he will be healthy by camp) while the Ravens doctor has an obligation to also consider the negative spin (can he even do remotely the same things he did with the Raiders, where he had literally the highest workload of all DL in the league)

@PFF_Moo @SamMonsonNFL Of course there is nuance & different medical providers will have different opinions (which is why “getting a second opinion” is a thing), but the Ravens FO had to have been including their medical staff in the discussions for this trade (how do you view the scans, risk, etc) 🤷‍♂️

Someone explain to me why losing all of their free agents would make the Ravens want to then decide to reopen a massive hole at edge rusher?
Joe Arrigo@JoeArrigo_

FWIW #RaiderNation, just my gut feeling: I think there is more to this story than just a failed physical. The #Raiders were being praised for the deal & FA signings while the Ravens were losing players & may have some buyers remorse.

@PFF_Moo @SamMonsonNFL I’d maybe take this idea seriously if we were talking about a soft tissue injury, where there are gradients /shades of gray… For a knee surgery, from one week to the next the actual scans & prognosis are basically going to be the same. 🤷‍♂️

One more time: They might have had all the information that the Raiders also had, but they obviously didn't have the information they themselves gathered with the physical they conducted after negotiating the trade (which is something that happens after every trade). It's literally impossible to conclude from the Russini tweet that the Ravens were dishonest (they might have been, but we can't conlude it from what we know) and this also goes for the league sources. This is basic reasoning.

@SamMonsonNFL 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ A MD looking at the outside of his knee, or even poking it, in person tells them basically nothing. It’s the diagnostic tests (X-rays, CT scans, etc) that matter…and they would have had access to that before agreeing to the trade. 🤷‍♂️

@PeterWelsh281 OF COURSE you need him in person. Doctors don't just function via email. They examine, in person. And again, the whole point is their medical experts may disagree with the other medical experts. 'talking to his surgeon' isn't explaining it if they disagree with his assessment.

@PeterWelsh281 Right, now ask yourself how on earth 'multiple people around the NFL at all levels' can possibly have the relevant information to be able to make that case. That's an utterly ridiculous statement to put out.

And those reports come from what sources? THINK about it for a second. They literally CAN'T be fully aware without getting hands on with the guy themselves. And there's a difference between being aware of something, and agreeing on its severity. Nobody is arguing they didn't know he was hurt. The contention is that when THEY THEMSELVES medically tested him they disagreed with the Raiders on the severity of the problem The idea that that isn't at all plausible is nuts.
