Chinese wildlife photographer Xi Zhinong gave me a photo he took of the Chinese snub-nosed monkey.  In 1993 he became the first person to capture images of this highly endangered species.   1/2

The UK and China are working to protect nature and grow trade. In Beijing, I met Minister for Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu, championed British food and drink, and visited Milu Deer Park to see an iconic species back from the brink thanks to UK‑China collaboration.

Yesterday would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday. Her late Majesty was the first British monarch to visit mainland China, nearly 40 years ago in October 1986. This picture of the late Queen meeting schoolchildren in Guangzhou hangs in my Residence in Beijing
