I hope they found Arrian’s lost work History of the Successors (Τα μετα Αλεξανδρον) which probably Romioi burned. In 1932 they've found a fragment of it psi-online.it/documents/psi;… According to Harvard's Department of History professor Ernst Badian (Badian 2012, p.294) the reason Eumenes did not address them himself or send a Greek was that the Macedonian was the language of the phalanx and that "that Greek was a difficult, indeed a foreign, tongue to them."

Alexander probably was not implicated. Pausanias had good reasons to murder Phillip now that his nemesis Attalus, who had gang rapped him, had gained so much power. The only thing that is suspicious is Alexander's and Olympia's ruthlessness in eliminating any legitimate heir to the throne. Olympia killed the new born half sister of Alexander in very sadistic way by forcing Cleopatra (the child's mother) to watch. Alexander got rid his uncle who did not pose any real threat and Attalus in quick succession.

While there are some issues with Reich and Lazaridis labs, ANF replacing WHG holds true. It is however important to highlight clearly the process on a time dependent basis as you said. Better wording, more clarity is needed in general. Staying scientific is really important. I also think AI must be used for these analysis, it's a perfect match for AI. At the moment this is not done afaik. @grok

The Myth of Population Replacement in aDNA Case 1: 'Anatolian Farmers replaced WHG" Not so. Two different populations initially avoided each other, then eventually mixed after few hundred years. Often, the new creole was dominated by WHG males.

@DrRob82 I'm very concerned how "science" can be bent for nationalistic narratives. Especially in the case of Greece in relation to Macedonia. The wording in Lazarides' 2017 papers raises some eyebrows. Even more if you combine it with his post on twitter.

@DrRob82 "continuity" is very broad term. Even if 10% of genome derives from earlier inhabitants someone can claim continuity. On top of that "similar" genome can be acquired by populations that are not from the area.

On the flip side, we hear about ‘millennia old continuity’ narratives for Anatolia, the Aegean & Caucasus, despite clear evidence to the contrary. I will address this in Future. Thus, despite the excellent advancements in aDNA tools & extraction methods, studies often remain cognitively deficient. I don’t think this will change until people like Reich & Lazarides continue to flood the media with their biased, poorly educated perspectives. @DanTabin feel free to learn these basics.

Interesting to compare the restored image of Alexander the Great painted in 336BC with the Macedonian mounted boar hunter on one of the Sidonian royal sarcophagi from the last quarter of the 4th century BC. Same grip on the spear shaft and a similar overall appearance. 🤔

@Peterk784hjd Alexander was not hated by Greeks in general. The Thebans and the Spartans resented the Macedonian hegemony, but the smaller city states were grateful for the protection against bullying by Thebes and Sparta. Athenians had mixed views. Demosthenes collaborated with Alexander.
