Yesterday morning, I had the pleasant surprise of bumping into H.E. Governor Issa Timamy at Dr. Kalebi Labs (DKL) - no bodyguards, no aides, no entourage… just him quietly coming in for his regular lab check-up. He was so unassuming that my Gen Z team, who were attending to him at our central referral Lab in Real Towers, Upper Hill, didn’t even realize there was a VVIP in the building until I personally greeted him and took him aside. Whilst I was showing him later how to access his results through the DKL App, I was humbled to learn that he has actually visited DKL quietly several times before whenever he is in Nairobi since we opened 1½ years ago - having been recommended to us by his own physicians. Yet not once has he ever called me, let alone requested special handling or sought VVIP treatment. It means most likely my staff all along didn’t even realize who he was whenever he visited @DKLDrKalebiLabs before. What struck me even more was that after we finished serving him and giving him a quick tour of our ultramodern lab facility, he politely refused to have his driver pull up to the entrance and instead walked himself to his official car (GVN 005), to the shock of our security doorman who is used to opening car doors for VIPs, let alone VVIPs 😊 In today’s world, such humility is very rare! 🫡 A second-term Governor who freely mingles with ordinary wananchi without fanfare, seeking special treatment, intimidation or excess security - because, in his own words, he has nothing to fear or hide 👊🏾 Rare breed indeed! 🙌🏾 It was truly an honour serving Your Excellency. Asante sana Gavana! Allah Baārik 🙏🏾
