@PatMillsComics I love both films. I can understand the criticisms of the first one. Although I understand Stallone was willing to keep the helmet on, it was the studio who insisted if they're paying for a star then you need to be able to see him. But the production design on that...

It fits the orthodox fan point of view - pro original comic, anti Stallone and pro Alex Garland. I'm not in disagreement with any of that. But there are so many nuances ignored because they challenge orthodoxy so fans don't want to consider them.However, tis not my gig anymore

Caveman (1981). "They don't call it the Stone Age for nothing." Ringo Starr, Shelly Long, Barbara Bach and Dennis Quaid star in this oft-forgotten Carl Gottlieb comedy. Starr plays lovable but inept Atouk, who must discover many things - including fried eggs and free drugs - to become leader of his tribe and win the love of one of two Cave Women. It's an elongated '60s slapstick that probably felt out of place at the start of the '80s. The callbacks to One Million Years BC and the madcap Beatles / Monkees comedy skits still work though: it is a genuinely silly film.

Reading people, local boy Peter Strickland’s excellent dress based horror film In Fabric (2019) is on iPlayer. All character/place names are locally sourced, the spooky department store setting is based on Jacksons - I love this movie so much that I actually appear in it!
